Internet Dating for the Midlife WomanWritten by Susan Dunn, MA, Personal Life & EQ Coach
More Internet dating and matchmaking sites are coming online all time. It’s no wonder they’re so popular. We’re all looking and it pays to extend your reach. Midlife dating is definitely a “numbers game” and here’s why. The only way to do this is to get in there and start doing it. If you have been married a long time, you’ll find men at this age (whatever age you’re at now) are different. Dating on Internet can help you get back into circulation. Some even often online “speed” dating, where you can make contact with several men on same evening. If you’re serious about finding a new guy, no doubt you’re getting out in your own community, have joined singles, activities and religious groups, are taking dancing lesson, pursuing your usual hobbies and interests, and letting others know you’re ready to date again. The Internet is “what else” you can do. The Internet offers two opportunities you may not have thought of. First of all, there are plenty of pornography and sex sites on Internet and guys know where they are. Therefore, many of men on dating sites are truly interested in dating, long-term commitment, friendship, and marriage. Secondly, certain aspects of Internet dating favor non-aggressive man with honest intent. Using an Internet dating site takes time. If he’s desperate and needy (emotionally or sexually), he won’t take time to fill out an Internet form and start emailing, but will head for local dive where he knows he can find what he’s after immediately. It also gives less-assertive man a slow way to get to know a woman. He may be an introvert, or simply new to dating and unsure of himself, and can get himself better grounded on Internet. You may catch him just at right time. How to begin? Take a look at some of different sites and get a feel for them. Particularly pay attention to how profiles are set up. Here are some things you’ll want to make sure of: 1.The profile tells you kind of things about someone you need to know 2.Your anonymity is protected 3.A photo is available 4.There is way to block or permanently end contact with someone 5.They attempt to screen undesirables. No guarantee but at least, for instance, they say they forbid married people, felons, pornography, hate, etc.

We are inundated by paper these days -- some of us feel like we are drowning in it -- but there are some simple steps you can take to keep your head above water. Many people are so overwhelmed with continuous stream of paper that it gets dumped in an ever-growing pile, junk mail and all, that is only hunted through when bills need to be paid or other important documents need to be found. Intentions are always good; you plan to sort and file, but that day rarely comes and when it does project is incredibly overwhelming. The bright side is, it doesn’t have to be that way! By developing a simple routine, you can keep paper flow under control and have everything filed for easy retrieval. Daily Paper Strategies - Keep a recycle bin in an easily accessible location so you have no excuse not to toss items in while you are handling them Remember to shred documents with sensitive information. - Don’t put stack of mail down until you have sorted out junk and deposited those items directly in trash or recycle bin; designate a fixed "home" for other major categories of mail (bills, to be filed, reading material, requires action, etc.) and be vigilant about immediately putting items where they belong. You'll be amazed by how much time you'll save with this tactic alone! - Open all envelopes immediately, keep only necessary contents and toss or recycle remainder before it can even hit counter - Analyze your newspaper and magazine subscriptions; do you read everything you subscribe to in a timely manner? If not, consider canceling some subscriptions and buy publication individually when you REALLY want to read it. - Don’t save entire newspapers or magazine for one or two articles or recipes; options are many -- tear page out on spot and place in your recipe file or reading stack; if it's a long term keeper, consider scanning it into your computer for later use; also you need to remember that you can find almost anything on internet -- don't save unnecessary information either in paper or electronic format! - Approach kids' school papers in an organized manner; have a storage box for items you want to keep; read and toss flyers on spot (have your calendar nearby to write down key dates so you don't have to keep fliers); sign any necessary items immediately and have your child place in their backpack to return Filing System Most people keep WAY too much in their files! They also keep their filing systems WAY too detailed. The most important feature of a filing system is user’s ability to maintain it. If you make it complex and cumbersome you are setting yourself up for failure.
