ICANN: Final Procedure for Designating Subsequent net-domains Registry Operator Written by Hans Peter Oswald
ICANN is reporting, that a new operator for net-domains registry will be designated in March 2005. The whole process for net-domains is similiar to transition of org-domains to a new registry. According to ICANN current Registry Agreement between ICANN and VeriSign, Inc. concerning net-domains was signed in May 2001, and will expire on 30 June 2005. The agreement concerning net-domain provides that ICANN, no later than 30 June 2004, will adopt an open and transparent procedure for designating a new Registry Operator of net-domains. The final procedure of reassignment has been developed through a process containing a public comment period. After review of many comments about net-domain in public comment period, draft procedure was developed by ICANN Board of Directors at 29 June 2004 Board Meeting.

ICANN accredited registrar Secura announces today, that company is accepting registration of at-domains from customers, who live outside Austria and Germany.(https://www.domainregistry.de/at-domain.html)At-domains are domains from Austria. This is special interesting, because in English, "at" has a meaning. You could form combination with files, which are sentences like e.g. http://www.buy.at/home. If your desired name is taken at ."at", you can try to register it at .co.at or or.at . If you want to have a strong presence in Austria, it is recommended, that you register your name as well at ".at" as at .co.at, info.at, biz.at and .or.at. Otherwise a competitor could annoy you by registering your name at .co.at and .or.at.
