How to live a balanced life?Written by ajay pats
Life's up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine... values and goals...Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build life you want.Nothing is unthinkable, nothing impossible to balanced person, provided it comes out of needs of life and is dedicated to life's further development.Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. The pursuit of balance is a lifelong journeWhen our lives are balanced it means we are centered. We are able to make life decisions from our core values and principles, rather than succumbing to a reactive mode or 'fire fighting'. Having balance also means being able to spend sufficient quantity and quality of time in areas that we have defined as being important to us. Life balance can be viewed in many ways. It can be a balance between home and work. Or a balance between body, mind, and soul. Or it may be a balance between one's material and spiritual lives. It is important to know what life balance means to you. To do this, you need to know what areas of your life are important to you. Why do we need life balance? If your life is balanced, you are better able to sustain your success - without burning out. A recent article in a Canadian newspaper reported that Statistics Canada has estimated that approximately $400 billion has been spent on stress-related illness in work place. In many cases, stress comes about because of lack of balance. If you are worth billions of dollars, but in process of acquiring that wealth you lose your health, what will your wealth buy you? Even best medical treatment cannot buy your physical health once it has gone. Money can also not replace loss of a family member if you have become estranged from them through process of acquiring wealth. And if your financial ambition causes you to lose your connection to your spirituality, your success will be lopsided. Balance creates synergy. An active and healthy body helps mind and spirit. When your mind is active and positive, it helps body and spirit. And when your soul is nourished, it helps body and mind. The synergistic effect that occurs through balance results in better all-round productivity. When you are able to spend enough quantity and quality of time in areas that are important to you, result is immense satisfaction with your life. You will find meaning and fulfillment and happiness. As Og Mandino, so appropriately said, "When all is said and done, success without happiness is worst kind of failure". J. Paul Getty, U.S. industrialist, puts it another way: "Doing too much or too little leads to failure". In other words, imbalance can lead you to do too much or too little. How do we find life balance? Finding life balance starts with having clarity of purpose - knowing what you want and why you want it. Without clarity, we are unable to focus. This leads us to do too much, and results in imbalance. Remember, it is not how fast you go or how efficient you are that count, but rather whether you are going in right direction. If you are heading in wrong direction, even thinking positively will help only temporarily. Knowing where you want to go helps you to say "No" to things that are not important to you.
| | Achieving Success in 5 Easy Steps Written by Dustin Rhodes
There are 5 essential steps or elements to achieving success in your personal and business life. Applying these 5 steps will guarantee success that you are seeking. All 5 steps work together and are essential to achieving ultimate success. Just like a recipe for your favorite cookies, you can not leave one ingredient out and expect your cookies to taste like they did before. Do not skip or substitute when you want true success.Desire is ... the first of five steps to personal success. You must first have a driving desire to achieve something. To be successful at anything is to have what Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich) calls a "burning DESIRE", wanting something so badly that you feel it throughout your whole being. Desire is push that drives you toward achieving thing that you want. It's like when you crave a sweet, creamy chocolate bar. You have a craving for something sweet. Depending on where you are at moment, let's say that you are at home, you go to kitchen to find something chocolaty to eat, unfortunately you find no chocolate bar. So, you grab your car keys and drive to nearest convenience store and you purchase a candy bar. You had a craving, you felt DESIRE for chocolate, you can even taste chocolate, you have to eat a chocolate bar to satisfy desire. To satisfy a desire you first need a goal. Goals are ... essential to achieving any amount of success, no matter if it is a large goal or a short-term goal. The GOAL gives you purpose and direction to achieve your ultimate end. Without a GOAL or a target, we wonder aimlessly, where we must accept what life throws at us. Or you can set a goal for yourself. People often say that setting goals is so "difficult". But actually we make small goals each day without realizing it. Before going to bed at night, you set your alarm clock to wake up at 6:30 AM, so that you will have plenty of time to wake up in morning, take a shower, get dressed, have breakfast and then leave your home for work. When you set alarm, you made a goal for yourself: to be at work ON TIME. You set into motion smaller goals or steps to achieve your ultimate goal. The steps (or smaller goals) were: (1) to take a shower, so that you are clean and refreshed (2) get dressed for work (3) then eat breakfast for energy to get day started (4) leave house for work, so that you arrive at work on time You probably are not aware that you unconsciously make small goals for yourself every day of your life. Longer range goals are not much more difficult. Set your goal (the final objective) and then decide all of necessary steps that are needed to achieve your objective.
