How to Grow Your Business in the Marketplace of the New Millennium ©

Written by John-Paul Micek

The "old ways" of doing business have been onrepparttar way out for years. Yet, training programs and consultants continue to do thingsrepparttar 103970 way they've always been done.

Maybe they're stuck inrepparttar 103971 past. Maybe they're blind torepparttar 103972 facts. Or maybe they just don't want to change.

Whatever their reason for failing to deliver practical, real-world tools and systems that support your entrepreneurial growth, I can assure you that it's rooted inrepparttar 103973 fact that these so-called experts don't recognize that there's a new business paradigm that has emerged — one that’s being defined by small-business owners.

(As big and dominant as they were, dinosaurs are no longer with us. I wonder if dinosaurs ever thought they'd become extinct.) For far too long, "big business" has received way too much attention fromrepparttar 103974 media, educational institutions, and training companies. According to data compiled byrepparttar 103975 SBA, small businesses employ more than 50% ofrepparttar 103976 nation's nearly 111-million employees, and a staggering 99.7% ofrepparttar 103977 businesses inrepparttar 103978 US are classified byrepparttar 103979 SBA as "Small."

Yet,repparttar 103980 vast majority of trainings, workshops, and educational programs meant to help you grow your business still remain focused onrepparttar 103981 traditional big-business "sheep-herding" model — with all its rigid idea-smashing, momentum-crushing baggage.

As a business owner, if you want to win big in this Marketplace ofrepparttar 103982 New Millennium, you'll need to attract, retain, and build relationships with your clients in a brand new way.

But to do that, you need a better way to grow and optimize your business than howrepparttar 103983 "old guard" would have you think.

As an entrepreneur, you need an effective, yet flexible, approach to growth using YOUR system as THE system — notrepparttar 103984 big-business "sheep-herding" model.

Here's what I mean …

Traditional education, repparttar 103985 average consultant, and most business development gurus all tout a highly regimented approach to growing a classical “top down” business. Like a massive ship steaming toward an iceberg, they find it nearly impossible to change course and adapt torepparttar 103986 fast, flexible structure of today’s small businesses.

And much likerepparttar 103987 Titanic, they haverepparttar 103988 challenge of momentum, repparttar 103989 ego of "expert" leadership, and tainted judgment about profitability because THEIR model for making money doesn’t match what really works forrepparttar 103990 average small-business owner.

Still, if I were to profess that I hadrepparttar 103991 cure forrepparttar 103992 diseased, business growth solutions ofrepparttar 103993 past, that new cure itself would be a disease because it forces your business reality into yet another mold.

Success Is a Choice ©

"You're as successful as you want to be."

Just try and throw this statement out at your next networking function or family gathering and watchrepparttar sparks fly. Emotions may flare up, yet it will not discountrepparttar 103969 validity of this statement.

To prove this point and show you how we may limit ourselves byrepparttar 103970 choices we make, thereby giving yourepparttar 103971 freedom to makerepparttar 103972 choice to succeed in your business and life, I'll give you three, very simple examples.

1. The Three-Letter Word That Can Cost You Millions

One ofrepparttar 103973 ways my clients “go out of bounds” in their coaching calls with me is when they userepparttar 103974 word "but." Consistently using this three-letter word will cost you relationships, sales, and moneymaking growth opportunities.

The word “but" shuts down communication, turns off your creativity, and turns you into a victim.

Ask yourself honestly if you've ever been guilty of saying or thinking any ofrepparttar 103975 following limiting beliefs:

But that won't work. But I've always done it this way. But I've tried everything. But I don't have a college education. But I don't want to do that.

Repeating any one of these statements will limit your future success. Stoppingrepparttar 103976 use of this dirty, three-letter word is under your control.

2. The Four-Letter Word For "Victim"

When you userepparttar 103977 word "can't," you are training your brain to shut down by focusing on how something won't work — before you ever haverepparttar 103978 chance to considerrepparttar 103979 possibilities of how it might work.

Countless business owners have become enormously successful because they saw how something could be done, while everyone else saw allrepparttar 103980 reasons why it couldn't. (Can you say "FedEx"?)

Expressingrepparttar 103981 ill-thought-out phrase, “You can't do that in my industry," is merely a poor excuse for poor performance and a cry of victimhood. Makerepparttar 103982 conscious choice to banishrepparttar 103983 word "can't" from your vocabulary and watchrepparttar 103984 growth opportunities begin to appear in your business and life.

Consider this statement issued in 1899 by Charles H. Duell, Director ofrepparttar 103985 U.S. Patent Office: “Everything that can be invented has been invented.”

That sure sounds like he was telling business owners that they “can’t” create anything new, because it “can’t” be done in their industry, doesn’t it?

Just think how many people believed that statement, and gave up trying to invent anything more advanced than what already existed. Sure, in hindsight, it’s pretty silly.

Thank God there were entrepreneurial creators who refused to listen torepparttar 103986 “experts” and went ahead and created anyway.

Did you know that currently there is such a backlog of inventions waiting for approval inrepparttar 103987 U.S. Patent Office, that many cures for ailments that people are suffering from are being held up for almost a year? There are so many NEW things ahead of them that need to be reviewed and approved!

Amazing, but true.

3. The Green Giant

The easiest way for you to continue to struggle in your current financial situation is to pass judgment on people who are more financially successful than you.

Judgment isrepparttar 103988 easy way for people to feel better about themselves and cover uprepparttar 103989 fact that they're simply green with envy. Rather that asking "how others did it," they'd rather point their finger and condemn others for succeeding.
