How to Design a PopUp Window to Boost Opt-Ins

Written by Steve Shaw

I get many emails a month from people asking how to go about designing a popup window to extractrepparttar maximum number of opt-ins from visitors to their web site. In this article I outlinerepparttar 134476 seven essential steps you should take in your design of a successful popup:

1. PAY your subscriber

Okay, not literally PAY them, but you generally need to give something back in return forrepparttar 134477 visitor's name and email address.

For example, a free course, a free book, a free consultation, anything that's of VALUE to your visitors and of RELEVANCE to your web site or business. I see so many popups that just say 'Type in your name and email address here:' without giving anything in return for these details.

2. Make your headline SELL

The headline of your popup is incredibly important, as it's oftenrepparttar 134478 first part ofrepparttar 134479 popup window thatrepparttar 134480 visitor's eye is attracted to. If it doesn't interest them, they'll shut downrepparttar 134481 popup immediately.

What can you do to improve your headline?

You need to focus strongly onrepparttar 134482 BENEFIT torepparttar 134483 potential subscriber - tell them exactly how are they going to BENEFIT from giving you their name and email address. For example, repparttar 134484 following are all headlines suitable for my own site that offer a clear benefit torepparttar 134485 reader:

"Boost your Subscribers by 535%" "Discover Secret PopUp Techniques" "FREE Report: Exit PopUp Boosts Sales 110%"

You could emulate this type of benefit-laden headline for your own site.

3. Make it load QUICK

A slow loading popup is going to be a quickly closed popup! No visitor to your web site is going to sit around while your elaborate popup loads all your fancy graphics, they're just going to close it straight away - it's your job to CAPTURE THEIR INTEREST as soon as possible, and thereby prevent closure ofrepparttar 134486 window before you've made your offer, and hopefully get them to type in their details.

A lot of thought and care needs to go into your Website before you actually begin construction. First you must decide on a name for it.

Choosing a Website Name

Don't take this task lightly. You want to have a name that people will easily remember. Often people will use their names, which is good if you're well known. But if you aren't famous yet, chances are searchers aren't going to put your name inrepparttar 134475 search bar. That is unless they're specifically looking for you.

Most traffic to your site will come via search engines. Think like someone who's looking for something onrepparttar 134476 Internet. What search words will they use? How can I incorporate this into my Website name?

It's best to choose names that aren't hyphenated or underscored. This wayrepparttar 134477 search engine will pick up allrepparttar 134478 words you've chosen, or any of them. When you break uprepparttar 134479 words it lessensrepparttar 134480 chance of being located.

Registering your Website Name

Probablyrepparttar 134481 most reliable and well known places to register your Website Name is at:

http://www.register.com

You can get a two year registered Website Name for approximately $35 per year. Register.com also has a search box so you can enter any combinations of names you're looking at registering. If it's been taken already, they'll let you know. There are other places online where you can find it cheaper and you just have to use your own good judgment if you choose one of these. They're usually offered to anyone who buys their Web Hosting program.

Choosing a Web Host

This can seem like a daunting chore! There are literally thousands of Web Hosting sites available to you. Some are great, some are bad and some are somewhere in between.

Be careful about joining a Web Host that locks you into a year's lease. Many Web Hosting companies will lure you in by offering you great savings when bought in increments like one year. If you purchase their package then remember if you aren't satisfied with their service you're stuck with them legally.

Luckily my last Web Host, who shall remain nameless, was on a month-to-month basis. Since it was my first paid hosting I didn't know if this wasrepparttar 134482 norm or not in getting bad service and frustrations galore. I began talking to others who were paying for their hosting services and soon learned I was paying a lot of money for little service.

Now I'm with a new Web Host and things couldn't be better! It's even cheaper thanrepparttar 134483 other Web Host! I get prompt replies to any emails I query. And I know my Web site won't haven't countless down time nor will I have to worry about anyone accessingrepparttar 134484 many pages of my site. Here's one I recommend:
