And they dwelt in their steads until captivity." Normally every human being wants to be a winner. Practically many win some battles and lose some. A few actually experience a stalemate. Others give up on life to become losers. A common adage in secular world ‘heaven helps those who help themselves’ offers motivation to anyone seeking to succeed in any human endeavour. How can a soldier of Christ help himself so that heaven can help him in battles of life? While many great theologians and Christian leaders criticize this adage, others in their support propose various ways that a Christian can help himself to secure divine help against enemy of his soul. According to mindset of world system around us, 'life is a game with rules written by one if one is smart, or written by others if one is dumb’. In this modern world, there are so many games to be watched or participated in. These range from games of ancient Olympics to interactive computer games in which frequently thin line between fantasy and reality is easily crossed and entertained mind becomes grossly obsessed therein. In any game, wrong choices led to defeat while right game plan guarantees victory. The ultimate game involves life and death for every human soul without any exception. John 3:14-17 (King James Version) verse 14 "And as Moses lifted up serpent in wilderness, even so must Son of man be lifted up:" verse 15 "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life". verse 16 "For God so loved world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." verse 17 "For God sent not his Son into world to condemn world; but that world through him might be saved." Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (King James Version) verse 19 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: " verse 20 "That thou mayest love LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in land which LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them." 1 John 5:12 (King James Version) verse 12 "He that hath Son hath life; and he that hath not Son of God hath not life." In this game God sets rules of game, and He also judges both spectators and participants. But because man is born in sin he naturally breaks divine rules personally (participant); and enjoys similar lifestyle of other participants (spectator)-Rom.1: 32. Consequently man lives in perpetual defeat! Romans 6:23 (King James Version) "For wages of sin is death; but gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
