Googling for Jesus

Written by Howard Young

When I took onrepparttar task of updatingrepparttar 126706 HTLC web site, I first started by "Googling for Jesus." In other words, I usedrepparttar 126707 Google internet search engine to find web sites that have information about Jesus to give a clearer picture of what our web site should look like.

My research indicated that if you Googled for "Jesus," "Lutheran," "Lutheran Churches," or even "Holy Trinity Lutheran Church," Google could not find our web site. Torepparttar 126708 search engine, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church simply did not exist onrepparttar 126709 internet.

Since one ofrepparttar 126710 core requirements is to sharerepparttar 126711 good news that Jesus is our Lord and Savior — in addition to providing general church information — it is quite impossible to broadcastrepparttar 126712 good news without a basic listing in a well-known search engine like Google.

Althoughrepparttar 126713 web site has been operational for many years, search engines did not categorized our site as a Lutheran Church or anything remotely related to Jesus. The original web site version had a beautiful photograph ofrepparttar 126714 Altar inrepparttar 126715 Sanctuary withrepparttar 126716 stained-glass windows inrepparttar 126717 background. This picture was easily worth one thousand words, but a search engine, which only understands textual content, could not interpretrepparttar 126718 beauty andrepparttar 126719 message inrepparttar 126720 picture.

IS YOUR LIFE SIGNIFICANT?

Written by Dee Mapa

"I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; andrepparttar gates of Hades will not overpower it." - Matthew 16:18 (NASU)

The words of Jesus above spoken to Peter conveyed many meanings. They were not only an utterance of prophecy. They were meant also to build up and to give Peter a life of significance. Peter was a man given to impulse, a characteristic that belied an obvious need to be esteemed.

There are many like Peter, people who desire a life of significance. Yet, in this world of increasing materialism, instant gratification and compromised morals, finding significance is more like a search forrepparttar 126705 Holy Grail.

Still, living a life of significance is possible. It begins with four thoughts we can find inrepparttar 126706 verse quoted above.

1. KNOW YOU ARE SPECIAL ("...You are Peter"). Jesus wasn't merely reminding Peter of his name. He was, in effect, saying, "You are somebody. In fact, you're no longer Simonrepparttar 126707 fisherman, but Peterrepparttar 126708 rock!"

God doesn't create junk. He created you with a perfect and eternal plan in mind that, when fulfilled, will revealrepparttar 126709 profound love God has for all mankind. He's given you skills, talents and gifts so you can do your part in that divine plan.

2. KNOW YOUR PURPOSE ("...upon this rock I will build My church"). God's divine plan is fulfilled when we realize that we are in this world for a purpose. Certainly that purpose isn't confined in building our own home, owningrepparttar 126710 latest car model or wearingrepparttar 126711 most expensive jewelry.
