Google Zombies Need To Wake Up

Written by Dean Phillips

Overrepparttar last couple of weeks, I've received more e-mails in response to my article, "Google's Trap, DMOZ's Nap, And Yahoo!'s Crap," than any other article I've ever written. And that's saying a lot because, I've written close to forty articles.

Most ofrepparttar 120171 e-mails are very supportive and appreciate ofrepparttar 120172 fact that I'm going after Google andrepparttar 120173 other large search engines, by telling it like it is.

Now even though I appreciate your e-mails and support, I need to make one thing perfectly clear. Forrepparttar 120174 record, I AM NOT GOING AFTER GOOGLE!

Is Google a greedy, self-serving entity? Yes! Yes, they are. But lots of entities are greedy and self-serving. For that matter, so are a lot of people. The fact ofrepparttar 120175 matter is, I happen to like certain things about Google. I think they're a fine search engine, and they perform a very valuable and much needed service.

No, my articles are not directed at Google per se. My articles are directed atrepparttar 120176 tens of thousands of Google zombies who blindly follow and applaud Google's every move and whim, like rats followingrepparttar 120177 Pied Piper of Hamelin.

This also includes a good portion ofrepparttar 120178 media, which also seems to be caught up inrepparttar 120179 bright lights of Google--not unlike a deer frozen byrepparttar 120180 headlights of an oncoming car.

Zombies, wake up! Google is a search engine--period! Nothing more, nothing less. And I will not exaggerate their existence or importance!

Written by Robin Nobles

Atrepparttar special request of my students, I've taken a long look at WebPosition Gold 3 (http://www.webposition.com), and I can honestly say I'm amazed at how this software program has matured and developed throughrepparttar 120170 years.

Let's take a tour ofrepparttar 120171 most popular software program inrepparttar 120172 search engine marketing industry, and let's see "what's new" in WebPosition 3.

The New Interface . . .

You can still click on New or Open onrepparttar 120175 top toolbar to start a new project or open an existing one, or you can click on any ofrepparttar 120176 icons onrepparttar 120177 left-hand side ofrepparttar 120178 screen.

Important: If you experience any problems connecting torepparttar 120179 Internet via WebPosition, try adding WebPosition to your accepted programs list in your firewall software. Or, you could try temporarily disabling your firewall to see if it's related to that. If you still have any problems, simply write to help@webposition.com. Wordtracker Keywords . . .

With WebPosition 3, you can now conduct keyword research with Wordtracker right through WebPosition 3! If you don't have a Wordtracker account, you'll be usingrepparttar 120180 free trial version of Wordtracker, which means you'll be researching usingrepparttar 120181 MSN search engine and Keyword Universe. If you have a Wordtracker account, you can enter your Wordtracker username and password by clicking onrepparttar 120182 Edit menu onrepparttar 120183 WebPosition toolbar and choosing, "Wordtracker Settings."

Important: Since WebPosition 3 now hasrepparttar 120184 Wordtracker keyword area, if you have a Wordtracker account, should you cancel that account? No! Unless you're going to be happy withrepparttar 120185 free trial version of Wordtracker, don't cancel your Wordtracker account. Instead, userepparttar 120186 WebPosition 3 interface to pull up your existing Wordtracker account.

Reporter . . .

Though this feature isn't new, my favorite part of WebPosition has always been Reporter, and it still is. This one area is worthrepparttar 120187 cost ofrepparttar 120188 entire software program.

As search engine marketers, it's important to keep up with your search engine rankings. You need to know which pages are ranking inrepparttar 120189 top 30 for which keywords.

While it's important for you to know your rankings, remember that you don't need to check your rankings every day or even every week. Once a month or once every other week is sufficient.

Use moderation! Don't check hundreds or thousands of keywords across several domains. Don't hammerrepparttar 120190 search engines. Remember that you're using their resources when you check rankings. Run ranking reports at night PST.

Page Critic . . .

After creating your pages, you'll want to run them through a software program for some last minute checks.

For example, isrepparttar 120191 page too long? Too short? Are you overusing your keyword phrase? Underusing it?

WebPosition 3 offers some very helpful suggestions that you may want to consider.
