Back inrepparttar 133103 70's when you brought your group to Myrtle Beachrepparttar 133104 choices were a little more restricted, Pine Lakes (The "Granddaddy") was always great to play and The Dunes took your breath away with it's ocean views. Azalea Sands, Possum Trot, Cypress Bay, Eagle Nest, Gator Hole were some other choices in those days. Sincerepparttar 133105 mid 80's that list has been added to dramatically.  Myrtle Beach south, which includes, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, and Pawleys Island has absolutely exploded sincerepparttar 133106 1980's. Litchfield Country Club had been around for a good number of years, as well as Sea Gull. When we first started going to Myrtle Beach south, you could shoot a canon down Route 17 and many ofrepparttar 133107 businesses still closed inrepparttar 133108 winter. That was beforerepparttar 133109 advent of allrepparttar 133110 new golf courses andrepparttar 133111 influx of people moving to this wonderful area. About 1985,repparttar 133112 local powers that be started to develop some of their land that had set idle for so many years. Doc Lachicotte and a group from Clemson started with Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet. They brought in one ofrepparttar 133113 best designers, Tom Fazio andrepparttar 133114 Wachesaw Plantation Club was dedicated in October of 1985. It is one ofrepparttar 133115 best private golf courses and communities to live. Check it out when you're in town. It's never too early to think about retiring to a golf course! And you can play this private course, if you opt to rent one of their golf cottages!

The 707 corridor in Murrells Inlet was developed a few years later, with Blackmoor opening and more recently TPC and World Tour.

Wachesaw East began about 1995 and quickly became known when LPGA picked their course for a tournament.

Jack Nicklaus came to town with his ideas for Pawleys Plantation about 1987. Today, it is recognized as a superior place to stay and play with outstanding views of marsh and lakes. Only players on course are those that stay either at Pawleys Plantation in one of their condos or atrepparttar 133116 Sands Group of hotels. On Route 17, east side of highway.

Willbrook Plantation, Golf for Women love this course, it's been on their "Top 100 Fairways list forrepparttar 133117 past three years. River Club ( just awarded **** 1/2 stars by Golf Digest in their Places to Play publication. Lots of water with Bent greens. ) and The Tradition were close behind. They're adjacent to Litchfield Country Club and all a good caliber of play.

Kings Highway, a north south route, west of 17 after Willbrook Plantation has become quite an area for superior courses. First came The Heritage. Larry Young built a beautiful course here, designed by Dan Maples with gorgeous views ofrepparttar 133118 Waccamaw River. Larry's busy up in Williamsburg these days. After The Heritage, Mike Strantz was busy designing True Blue and a little later Caledonia. Built by Doc Lachicotte and his group, these two courses were built in a way to preserverepparttar 133119 natural beauty ofrepparttar 133120 land. And would you believe thatrepparttar 133121 owners are not golfers. Rather they are sportsmen who love to fish and hunt. In fact if you notice going downrepparttar 133122 entrance road to Caledonia onrepparttar 133123 left there is stillrepparttar 133124 old shed (with some updated changes) whererepparttar 133125 guys meet for their fishing, tall tales and cookingrepparttar 133126 catch ofrepparttar 133127 day every Thursday. So Caledonia Fish and Golf Club makes perfect sense now. Byrepparttar 133128 way, if you haven't played Caledonia, you are missing one ofrepparttar 133129 most beautiful courses around. Grand old oak alley, views ofrepparttar 133130 rice fields and beyond torepparttar 133131 river. We sure missrepparttar 133132 old days though when "Ducks Unlimited" had their cookouts inrepparttar 133133 old buildings atrepparttar 133134 old Caledonia Plantation! And we recently hadrepparttar 133135 pleasure of attending a good old fashioned barbeque in that same old shed - not too long ago. Also, did you know that both Caledonia and True Blue serve a complimentary fish chowder onrepparttar 133136 golf courses inrepparttar 133137 winter? These are little tidbits that our golf specialists happen to know!

True Blue has restructured some ofrepparttar 133138 holes to make it more "player friendly" forrepparttar 133139 higher handicap player and changed their greens to Tif Eagle. “We’re very excited aboutrepparttar 133140 improvements we’ve made to our golf course,” said Danny Gore, head golf professional for True Blue Plantation. “By making these improvements, we have secured our ranking as one ofrepparttar 133141 top ten courses in South Carolina and one ofrepparttar 133142 best inrepparttar 133143 country.” In fact they are now ranked #2 in Top 25 golf Courses inrepparttar 133144 South, by Golf Magazine.Following are some of our favorite places to play golf in Myrtle Beach: Barefoot Golf Resort. one word sums it up. Wow! A whole new scene for myrtle beach golf. Upscale and loving it. Norman, Fazio, Love and Dye courses. The Dye course is semi-private and not available for general play. But all and inquire - you may get on! The Norman Course is a Par 72, approximately 7,200 yards long. Slope from 112 golf tees to 136 championship tees. "Bump and run" orrepparttar 133145 Shark's philosophy of playing aroundrepparttar 133146 green at work here. Well loved South Carolinian Davis Love designed a "low country" course complete withrepparttar 133147 ruins of a plantation on a couple of holes. Slope 118 - 138 and fun to play for any ability. Tom Fazio at work again in SC. The Fazio Course is a Par 71, approximately 6,834 yards long. Fazio courses are just some of our very favorites. You always have a great game. Slope 115 - 139 enough to challenge most players. Last, but not least - Pete Dye has another triumph. He is well know in Myrtle Beach for Prestwick golf club and Debordieu (the private club) down in Georgetown. You know he always has some of those railroad ties to catchrepparttar 133148 badly hit balls andrepparttar 133149 fun begins. The course is a Par 72, 7,343-yard layout that encourages walking. Slope from 119 - 149. "Nobody said it would be easy"!

What are custom golf clubs

Written by Trevor Austin

Custom golf clubs are anything from a single club to a full set of woods, irons and putter which have been custom specified and assembled just for you. They may work for somebody else and other people will probably love your custom built golf clubs, but they are yours.

To make an analogy that most of you will be familiar with we will compare buying a new set of golf clubs to buying a new suit or dress, there are three ways you can go about this;

Option 1 - You go to a clothes shop and browse around until you see something fashionable and then buy it and hope it fits you OK and is comfortable. That isrepparttar normal way most people buy their golf clubs.

Option 2 - You can go torepparttar 133097 same shops and try a few different designs, maybe even mix and match top and bottom ofrepparttar 133098 outfit, and eventually you will get something that fits OK but you may need to have altered, withinrepparttar 133099 leewayrepparttar 133100 existing clothing gives on sizes and lengths and quite a lot of people will get a reasonable fit. This is very similar to custom fitting your new golf clubs, you are still limited torepparttar 133101 small number of shafts and flexes that that manufacturer provides and most will only extend or reduce by 1/2" and atrepparttar 133102 most 2 degrees loft and lie. The shaft flexes will only be those stamped onrepparttar 133103 side ofrepparttar 133104 shaft and are different for every shaft manufacturer, very rarely are these actually measured and you better match one ofrepparttar 133105 five or six flexes available. For a lot of people that just isn't enough, and this can still take many weeks.

Option 3 - If you wanted something that would last a long time and fitted really well from day one you would go to a bespoke outfitters, they would take all your measurements, find out exactly what you wantedrepparttar 133106 item for, how often it would be used, etc. This would cost a relative fortune but gives great results every time. This isrepparttar 133107 same as custom club building, butrepparttar 133108 good news is, unlikerepparttar 133109 clothing market this is normally less expensive, and rarely more expensive, thanrepparttar 133110 first option. So how does that work?

Well, almost all golf club heads, with very few exceptions - if any - are made inrepparttar 133111 far east, mainly China. We believe that all heads are made there but several ofrepparttar 133112 big manufacturers just will not give a straight answer, try them!

Shafts,repparttar 133113 most important part ofrepparttar 133114 club, are made by a very few companies, but normally China, Bangladesh, Japan, etc. None ofrepparttar 133115 big names make their own shafts,repparttar 133116 majority fitting True Temper shafts, sometimes branded with their own name but never manufactured by them.
