Give ThanksWritten by Joyce C. Lock
It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down people under me, And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from violent man. Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name. That I may publish with voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works. To end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. I will give thee thanks in great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. I will praise name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. I will offer to thee sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon name of Lord. ~ * ~ O give thanks unto Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. O give thanks unto Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Scenario No. 1 A child has just become a victim of a hit and run accident; lying in middle of road, with traffic coming. Their back could be injured, making it not safe to move them. You pray, "Oh, dear God, 'help me' bless this child. Help him or her to not feel fearful and ease their pain. I know that you are Great Healer. So, I am going to take this child home with me and decorate a bedroom for them to stay (making them feel welcomed and comfortable) as they are healing." Scenario No. 2 Second verse, same as first. It ain't no better, but it does get worse. A child has just become a victim of a hit and run accident; lying in middle of road, with traffic coming. Their back could be injured, making it not safe to move them. You pray, "Oh, dear God, bless this child, today. Help them to not feel fearful and ease their pain. I know you are Great Healer and in control of all things. So, protect them from oncoming traffic and may help come soon," then keep going, to meet your appointment. Scenario No. 3 A child has just become a victim of a hit and run accident; lying in middle of road, with traffic coming. Their back could be injured, making it not safe to move them. You pray, "Oh, dear God, here I am. Send me. Bless this child through me. Let me hear need of their heart. Give me Your words to meet that need, as we wait together. I know you are Great Healer. Guide me as to how to best bring comfort and ease their pain. And, Lord, being in control of all things, protect us from oncoming traffic and give someone heart to call for help."
