Giclee printing advantagesWritten by Fabio Bragha
Giclee printing advantages:Additional revenue for artist beside original when marketing giclees. Setup is much cheaper for giclee than producing offset for litho printing (no plates need to be generated). Quality is better than press both in resolution and color range. Did you know giclee printing offers a much wider color gamut than traditional presses? Much more variety of papers such as canvas and watercolor than press as giclee printing is not as fussy with substrates. Different sizes can be printed on demand to accommodate market. While latest Giclee printers use 6 or more colors, traditional printing is 4 colors: a lot of pigments artists choose simply cannot be reproduced. The gamut (Range of colors reproduced) is higher with giclees. Manufacturers added extra pigments such as light cyan, light magenta, to increase chromatic rendition. Regarding pigments, make sure that your giclee provider uses pigments and not dyes for printing. This is an essential component to insure lasting reproductions. Every printer has different characteristics: A measure of DPI (dots per inch) is often overrated as to only measure of quality. There are 300 DPI professional machines capable of rendering artwork of a much higher quality than a consumer level printer rated at 720 or 1,440 DPI. Ultimately, even with all math and gamut graphs available, true test is to observe a giclee next to original. Use a lupe if one is available to discern any dot pattern.
| | Five Band Resistor Color Code-What Does The Last Band Of White Color Represent?Written by Jestine Yong
In electronic repair, most of time i came across five band resistor color code. The purpose of using five colour band resistor in a circuit is that it provide a more accurate value compare to four color band. For example in order to get value of 22.6kohm, with four colors band resistor you will not be able to find it. The most you can get is 22k (red, red, orange and gold). If with five color band you will be able to calculate it (red, red, blue, red, brown)the last color which is brown represent 1% tolerance. You may go to google search engine and type resistor color code, resistor color coding, resistor color code calculator, or resistor color code chart to know more about how to calculate a five band resistor values. If you open up an analog multimeter you will understand what i mean. Most of resistor circuit inside multimeter are using five color band. Why? Because reading that you get whenever you measure current, voltage or ohm, panel will show nearest value. For instance, if you measure a 9v battery needle will point to may be 8.9v,9v,or 9.1 volt. If that particular multimeter was designed using four color band resistor result that it gets may be 8.5v,9.5v or even 10 volt. In other words use of five color band resistor is to make a circuit more precise and output desire result as what engineers want it to be.
