Fix disappearing Status Bar in Internet ExplorerWritten by Ronald Merts
You are working away in Internet Explorer 6 when you decide you need another browser window open. You open browser window either by typing CTRL-N or going to File->New->Window in menu. Problem is, when you open this new window you notice that status bar at bottom is missing. You close down Internet Explorer and restart it. The status bar is there now, but again when you open a new window it's missing. This is a known bug within Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1); and, fortunately there is a fix for it.1) With only one Internet Explorer window open, in menu click View, and select Status Bar. Make sure it is checked. 2) Right-click on IE's Toolbar and select: "Lock Toolbar". If it's already locked, select "Unlock Toolbar" then right-click in toolbar again and select "Lock Toolbar". 3) Hold down Ctrl key and click close button in upper right corner of window. 4) Open Windows Explorer, in menu click View, and select Status Bar

As some of you may know you can use Internet Explorer to view contents of webpages, that is, to view source code of webpage. Sometimes that’s a nice way to see how someone did something interesting or perhaps just as a learning tool. All you need to do is go to Vide in menu and choose View Source and Notepad will open and you will be presented with source code for page you are currently viewing in Internet Explorer. Sometimes, however, you will get nothing when you do this. Notepad refuses to open and there is no error message or notification of any problem. Usually this is caused by one of two problems. 1) The environment variable TMP is pointing to an invalid directory or folder. 2) You have too many files in Temporary Internet Items folder. While first one is possible, most likely source of problem is second. The solution is easily implemented; empty Temporary Internet Items folder. This is much easier than you may be thinking. 1) Start Internet Explorer and click on Tools in menu and select Internet Options or Right Click on Internet Explorer on your desktop and choose Properties from submenu. 2) Under Temporary Internet Files heading about one-third of way down, click on Delete Files button. 3) When confirmation dialog box appears click on OK button 4) Click on OK button on next dialog box. 5) Close any remaining “properties” windows with OK button.
