Finding Boating Items Online is Quick and Easy.Written by Got-Content - Andrew Constantine
Got-Content.com interviews Alex James about informational website he has created around topic of inflatable boats and kayaks online. Alex is an average guy that has a small business in ‘small town U.S.A.’ . When looking to create his first informational site, a hobby of his was chosen to build website around. Got-Content.com: “Alex, what inspired you to build a site about boats and kayaks?” Alex: “Mainly it’s a hobby of mine to take off for a few hours on weekend and hit water with my inflatable kayak. I have a Sea Eagle 380x and spend as much time as I can on water, fishing or just paddling waters of a small pond that I stumble upon. The great thing about inflatable boats and kayaks is that you can throw them in car or truck, find an out-of-the-way water spot that you might have to hike a ways to, then simply blow up your boat and go!” Got-Content.com: “Sounds fun! I know I have seen these small boats on water, but how sturdy are they… after all, they remind me of a pool raft.” Alex: “It’s funny look I get when I take a friend out on my kayak. They don’t realize that these are serious boats and are equally as capable of taking weight and punishment of other small boats of similar size made of aluminum or wood. – Think of Marines inflatable watercraft – These boats are designed with similar strategies and safety features, just downsized and lightened up a bit for consumers.” Got-Content.com: “Where did you find your kayak?” Alex: “That’s a funny story – I was looking in sporting goods stores and boat marinas. What I found was either too cheap and flimsy or outrageously priced. – I got discouraged and searched online for a store that might be local to me – What I found was incredible! A couple of quality inflatable boat manufacturers that primarily sell their products from hunting and fishing catalogs by mail order had ventured online and I found exact type and style I wanted – I even bought it direct through manufacturer!”

Why Range Finders are Perfect for BackCountry Chuck Fitzgerald ©2004. All Rights Reserved.Outdoor enthusiasts love to guess about all sorts of things. We guess how many stars are in Milky Way, we guess how fast a deer runs or we might even guess about how long it will be until that big, dark cloud dumps rain us. But there are times when guessing in backcountry just doesn’t get job done. Specialty gear is available to help us determine how far we’ve hiked - and in what direction - and other tools are available to help take guesswork out of purifying water. But there is a another useful tool overlooked by many avid backcountry visitors - rangefinder. Rangefinders are used in a number of commercial applications - surveying, mapping, mining, etc. - however for our purposes we will be discussing portable laser rangefinder used by outdoor sportsmen and sportswomen. Laser rangefinders calculate distance to an object by bouncing a laser beam off of object and measuring lapsed time until beam returns. Since calculation is based upon return of beam, it stands to reason that a more reflective object can be measured at a greater distance than a less reflective object. Readily available models are accurate to within one yard and have ability to measure distances to reflective targets up to 1500 yards away – that’s nearly a mile - and they’re accurate under nearly any condition. The past few years have seen a number of technology advances across all rangefinder price ranges. Many models are lightweight, are easily operated with one hand, can measure through rain or snow, can see through nearby clutter, function well in low light, contain integrated optical magnification and are 100% waterproof. Additionally there have been vast improvements lately to lens coatings, battery life and information display.
