Finding A Great Change Management ConsultantWritten by Jakob Jelling
Change management consultants aren’t too hard to find; if they perform properly, they work themselves out of every job! But when you’re planning massive restructuring for your company, you want best change management consultant you can locate. What To Look For In a Change Management Consultant Any change management consultant you consider seriously should have three things: - Executive experience, preferably in your industry; - Experience bringing multiple companies successfully through a business realignment process, preferably same one you’re planning for your company; - Experience with managing change in companies similar to yours in both structure and industry. In other words, perfect change management consultant for your business would be one who’s done exactly what you’re doing with two or three of your competitors. But that’s not all you should look for in your change management consultant. He or she should also mesh well with your current management team. A poor choice in consultant would be someone that your key employees (note multiple!) dislike. Your company needs to work as a team to successfully complete change, and dissention with your change management consultant will undermine everything you’re trying to do. If one or two key employees dislike your change management consultant prospect while everyone else likes him or her fine, you need to ask yourself what’s setting this employee off. Is it really something about change management consultant? Or is there a possibility that your employee is worried about losing his or her job during process of your business’s transformation? You need to sit down with that employee and find out before ruling out that change management consultant; he’s not there to be everyone’s friend, after all.

The success and failure for entrepreneur is largely dictated by ability to gain access to resources, both personal as well as those of others. So big question is then 'how does one become more resourceful?' Like many of skills of entrepreneur, resourcefulness requires constant cultivation. However, if you can develop this one skill payoff will greatly exceed cost! Below are 4 simple strategies you can put into practice to increase your resourcefulness; 1. Manage Your State. The best way to gain access to an increased level of personal resources is by managing your state of mind and being. If you are feeling lousy, chances are internal resources that you are able to tap into are going to be pretty lousy as well. If you are in good physical condition, well rested, fed and hydrated, your ability to push yourself towards destiny you desire vastly increases. Develop awareness around what pushes you into both productive and unproductive states. Then if you really want to be more resourceful, make simple decision to do more of things that inspire your productivity and less of things that don't. One of disciplines I personally follow, is exercising first thing in morning before I do anything else. If I miss a day, difference in my energy levels and consequently my resourcefulness is profound. 2. Seek Out Expert Resources. Your ability to succeed in business is largely influenced by your ability to gain access to expert knowledge. The secret here is that you don't actually have to be one that has that knowledge! You just need to be able to know when and where to find it. Make a habit out of leveraging experience and expertise of others. Meet with these people in person or access their knowledge through their books, CDs/DVDs, coaching programs and workshops if they offer them. You'll be amazed at transformational effect it can have on your business.
