Find Passion In What You Do

Written by Josh Hinds

Find something you feel passionately about - Ok, I'll readily admit that onrepparttar surface this seems like a no-brainer. Yet it never ceases to amaze me by how many people I talk with that feel as though they're just going throughrepparttar 123572 motions with regards torepparttar 123573 events in their lives (both business and personal).

My Friend, you may be at a point where you personally feel as though things are a little stagnant. I can sympathize with you. I know inrepparttar 123574 past I have certainly felt this way myself. Getting up each morning going to a job that I didn't particularly enjoy. Doing things that I didn't really find all that exhilarating.

Then it dawned on me, if I was going to make a change I simply had to stop talking about it and at least take small active steps towards doing it. So rather than quit doingrepparttar 123575 things that I didn't enjoy I simply started dedicating a little bit of time torepparttar 123576 things that did inspire me. Things I could get excited about! As time passed I realized that more and more of my time was being spent onrepparttar 123577 things I enjoyed doing in my life.

The truly amazing thing was that suddenly I was no longer countingrepparttar 123578 hours I put into an project. I lovedrepparttar 123579 new path I was on so much thatrepparttar 123580 long hours of effort it was taking became almost enjoyable. Oh yes, and alongrepparttar 123581 way I did let go of a lot ofrepparttar 123582 things that no longer inspired me.

Researchers estimate we only use around two to ten per cent of our brainpower each day.

This means that much ofrepparttar 123571 mental processing power you've got is rusting away, unused. This is literally true, because when your brain cells die they aren’t replaced. If you could find ways to access more of your fantastic brainpower, what could you achieve? Could you double or triple your current income?

The first article on your GPS (Goal Positioning System) outlined how you use it. Here'srepparttar 123572 process in a nutshell: you set clear, time-limited goals, you visualize yourself successfully completing tasks and achieving your goals every day, you use your intuition, you write ABOUT what you want, and why you want it, and you create and use a daily task list.

The key to accessing more of your brainpower lies inrepparttar 123573 tasks that you procrastinate on. When you resist something, repparttar 123574 resistance uses up more energy than completingrepparttar 123575 task. Your resistance also leads to feelings of guilt and unworthiness, and these feelings lower your overall effectiveness, which means you use even less of your total brainpower.

Here's how to use your GPS to tackle your procrastination:

=> Write down where you are, exactly what you want to do, and how you want to feel while you're doing it

"But I already know what I want to do," you protest.

Yes, that's true. But part of you is weaseling out. Your left brain might want to completerepparttar 123576 task, but if you're procrastinating, it's a sign that your right brain and your unconscious mind have other ideas. For whatever reason, they want no part ofrepparttar 123577 task and will do their best to ensure that you don’t do it.

Procrastination's insidious. If you're procrastinating, you'll find any number of super-logical reasons NOT to dorepparttar 123578 task. You'll suddenly remember those phone calls you have to make. Or that you haven’t called your mother all week. Or that you really need to check on how your online auctions are doing.

Let's imagine a scenario. Let's say you're procrastinating on mowingrepparttar 123579 lawn. The grass is almost to your knees and your house-proud neighbors are so peeved that they turn away when they see you.

Take out a pen and paper and write down where you are, what you want to do, and how you want to feel while you're doing it.

You'll find that as you're writing, repparttar 123580 other parts of your brain will start to kick in. As you write: "It's Tuesday, almost 4pm, and I'm sitting inrepparttar 123581 kitchen having a cup of coffee. I want to go and checkrepparttar 123582 mower, and mowrepparttar 123583 lawn. It will only take me half an hour, and I'll feel energetic and pleased with myself while I'm doing it. The lawn will look great."
