Fast Food, Not Fat Food - Have it your wayWritten by Kim Paolino
We can continue to kid ourselves and vow never to eat another fast food meal again, and really, this time mean it, get real! We're hungry and in a hurry, and lets face it; crave those hot, salty fries and great tasting burgers. We give in, devour these conveniently quick served value meals from local fast food joint found on every other corner, and with in minutes, satisfaction. Then it hits you. How many calories, how much fat, and we do this every time we go to mall, (we know shopping and lunch go hand and hand) and every time cooking seems to become a undesirable task. How do we allow that seducing aroma and instant gratification take over again? Luckily, over past few years' fast food restaurants finally gotta clue. They now offer some healthier, yet still tasty alternatives; grilled chicken sandwiches, broiled burgers, delicious salads, and pitas stuffed with fresh vegetables. Life in fast food lane does not have to mean life in fat lane anymore. With a little knowledge and willpower, we can put our best fork forward, and still enjoy luxury of fast food. Eating a meal or two at Burger King, (which by way is my favorite), or Taco Bell, (which is my other favorite), isn't going to hurt all that much. But if you want to reduce fat, calories, and guilt that come with such indulgences, make better choices.
| | Eating Multiple Meals a DayWritten by Ken Dennis
Did you know that eating more meals a day is actually good for you? It's true. Most people eat standard three meals a day: morning, noon, and evening. That's convenient I know, but how often have you been hungry in between those times? Let me give you a quick explanation of why you should eat more meals per day. Basically, by giving your body a constant supply of food in smaller amounts, it increases your metabolism, and we all know what that means. That's right, weight loss. Just think, just by changing times and frequency of your meals you can aid in weight loss. That doesn't mean you can eat junk food as your meals, you have to eat reasonably of course. The first meal of day, as I am sure most of you heard from your mothers, is most important meal of day. You have been depriving your body of food for 7-10 hours while you sleep and it is starving for nutrients. Have you ever noticed if you skip breakfast you actually feel less hungry at lunch time then you do if you ate breakfast? That is because your body has gone in to nutrient saving mode, it slows down your metabolism because it doesn't know when you will feed it next! So if you think about it, eating more often is intelligent thing to do!
