Family Memory Journal

Written by Rachel Paxton

A family memory journal is a fun, easy way to preserve family memories. A couple of years ago I was sorting through a pile of unused journals (many given to me as presents!) and was trying to come up with a way to put them to good use.

One day after a family gathering, I sat down and wrote a short description ofrepparttar gathering in one ofrepparttar 111431 unused journals. I wrote whererepparttar 111432 gathering took place, repparttar 111433 occasion we were celebrating, repparttar 111434 names ofrepparttar 111435 people who had attended, and anything aboutrepparttar 111436 day that had stood out in my memory. I did this forrepparttar 111437 next couple of family get togethers and then just stuckrepparttar 111438 journal in a drawer somewhere.

It didn't seem like that big of deal atrepparttar 111439 time, but probably a year or more later I pulled outrepparttar 111440 journal again and looked atrepparttar 111441 entries I had made. It was really fun reading them again. I had already forgotten some ofrepparttar 111442 things that had happened, or thoughts that I had atrepparttar 111443 time that fortunately I had thought to write down.

I've been really forgetful about writing in my family memory journal, but inrepparttar 111444 past couple of years have probably chronicled two or three family events a year. When you think about it, 25 years from now, repparttar 111445 journal will be full of family memories.

A Moving Experience

I’ve found a cool apartment! Okay, okay…so it’s not perfect. Just a few bugs. I mean literally! First expense? An exterminator! Is it worthrepparttar cash? Well, I can’t afford a more expensive place, so a one-time (please!) cash outlay should be okay. Maybe just a can of “Raid?”

I need a way to move my stuff. Daddy, can I borrow your truck? You don’t have one? Why not? Do you want one? I’ll help you pick it out! Well, it was just a suggestion. No need to get all bent out of shape! I guess I’d better callrepparttar 111430 truck rental places. What do you mean…$200…PLUS mileage? AND Gas? Good grief!

While I’m onrepparttar 111431 phone I’ll callrepparttar 111432 utility and phone companies. Yes, I know I haven’t used your services before. No, I don’t have a credit card; this is my first place. You want what? A $100 deposit? For EACH? Holy cow…do you people have a license to steal?
