Sinus pressure: infection next?

Written by Marlon D. Ludovice

One ofrepparttar symptoms of sinus infection is sinus pressure infection. This happens when irritants enter to our body throughrepparttar 105545 nose, thus if becomes severerepparttar 105546 tendency therefore sinus membrane becomes irritated causing it to swell. Due torepparttar 105547 swellingrepparttar 105548 sinus passages becomes constricted that result to blockage and congestion. Blockage causesrepparttar 105549 confined air, puss and mucus inrepparttar 105550 sinus cavities.

There are four pairs of sinus cavities: - Frontal sinuses – this is located aboverepparttar 105551 eyes inrepparttar 105552 forehead region - Maxillary sinuses – found on either side ofrepparttar 105553 nostrils inrepparttar 105554 cheekbones - Ethmoid sinuses – located behindrepparttar 105555 bridge ofrepparttar 105556 nose and atrepparttar 105557 base ofrepparttar 105558 nose betweenrepparttar 105559 eyes - Sphenoid sinuses – is found behindrepparttar 105560 ethmoid sinuses andrepparttar 105561 eyes.

Each of these sinus cavities contains an aperture calledrepparttar 105562 ostium that opens out intorepparttar 105563 nasal passages forrepparttar 105564 exchange of air and mucus. These sinus cavities have mucous linings that continue up torepparttar 105565 mucous linings found inrepparttar 105566 nasal passages. And with these linings there are cell calledrepparttar 105567 cilia that shiftrepparttar 105568 mucous fromrepparttar 105569 sinus cavities and allows them to drain down intorepparttar 105570 nasal passages. If there are trapped air and secretions inrepparttar 105571 obstructed sinus cavity that may cause pressure inrepparttar 105572 sinus wall and this can result to extreme pain during a sinus attack.
