Do contrast helps in your design?Written by Maricon Williams
Contrasts give your design distinction, uniqueness, character and identity. A print design project is a probable conversation. If done properly, it can yield a positive feedback – by that we can say that communication process has been successful. If not, it will remain unnoticed and your marketing project will not get impact that you are longing. Contrast is a good technique in creating a noticeable and understandable design and layout. Contrast can be size, color, direction, format or play between expected versus unexpected. Size contrast can entail graphics or type. The greater difference greater impact will be. To cite, in making type size in headline a bolder text compared to body text is used, it will not create same impact as having frail and small text. Sometimes background color of text also matters. Use a light or complementary background for your text or graphics to be visible or readable. It’s no sense making them when you cannot grab customer’s attention and comprehension. Colors can be a secret ingredient to achieve what you want. The use of extreme or unusual or unexpected color can easily divert eyes of readers. Our eyes are used to seeing black and white so use other colors to attract human eyes. Believe me it can draw attention and it can make an obvious impression.
| | Importance of Layer AdjustmentWritten by Maricon Williams
The special layers in Photoshop that applies adjustment onto its own layer is called adjustment layers. With them, you can adjust color balance, hue/saturation, levels and other essential factors of an image. Adjustment is necessary when an image needs a premeditated change or modification. It quickly and easily enhances photographs and graphics to create an outstanding graphic design. Editing and retouching made easy – that’s importance of layer adjustment. There are two ways to do this. The first is usual adjustment and second is adjustment layers. Adjustment can be created on actual layer itself by going under Image > Adjustments > and then choosing an adjustment. It will not work on shape layers (vectors) thus, duplicate original layer before you make any adjustments. Adjustment layer can be created on top of original. By this original layer is preserved and adjustment layer can easily be discarded. An adjustment layer applies to all of layers under it. If you had 10 layers of a complex design and you selected uppermost layer in layers palette and then created an adjustment layer, change in color balance that you have selected applies to 10 layers. However if you made a selection, then adjustment layer will spread across document on special layer. If you make adjustment on a particular layer, it will only apply to that layer. To do this, simply press Ctrl or Cmd on layer icon and select layer. Create an adjustment layer of your choice and it will apply to your predetermined layer.
