Buying Property in Bulgaria - dates for your diary

Written by AdrianM

In just a couple of weeks time Bulgaria will beginrepparttar final phase of her journey towards full EU membership on 1st January 2007. This will no doubt be a somewhat turbulent two years but forrepparttar 101375 property watcher and real estate investor it isrepparttar 101376 next six months that is set to berepparttar 101377 most interesting. In fact, everybody considering a property purchase in Bulgaria should now add a number of new trigger dates to their decision-making diary.

December 17threpparttar 101378 date ofrepparttar 101379 next EU summit at which Bulgaria hopes to be given a definite date for signingrepparttar 101380 EU accession treaty. This issue has beenrepparttar 101381 source of considerable media speculation for some weeks but now seems to have come to a head. Withinrepparttar 101382 past few days, Germany, France, Portugal and Luxembourg have all given top-level ministerial backing torepparttar 101383 need for a firm signing date early next year.

March 2005repparttar 101384 month in which Kamelia Kassabova, chair ofrepparttar 101385 special Committee dealing with Constitutional amendments, expects to seerepparttar 101386 removal ofrepparttar 101387 existing restrictions on land purchase by foreigners. Currently, repparttar 101388 constitution does not allow foreigners to buy land, a provision that is largely academic because those who want to do so simply set up companies, which are permitted to make such purchases. The Committee has now agreed on amendments that will allow land sales to foreigners in two categories: firstly, EU citizens entitled to buy land underrepparttar 101389 EU accession treaty and, secondly, both EU and non-EU citizens entitled to land purchase under an international treaty. Kassabova has that said she wants to have these amendments submitted to Parliament beforerepparttar 101390 end of this year so thatrepparttar 101391 law can be changed by March 2005.

April - May 2005repparttar 101392 critical time period during which it is expected that Bulgaria will signrepparttar 101393 EU accession treaty. According to MEP Catherine Guy-Quint, who co-chairsrepparttar 101394 joint parliamentary committee handling Bulgarian - EU integration, repparttar 101395 most probable date is May 9th.

June - July 2005repparttar 101396 timeframe for Bulgaria’s forthcoming general election. Parliamentary speaker, Ognyan Gerdzhikov, has scheduled either June 26th or July 3rd asrepparttar 101397 most likely dates.

Poor Birdy

I want to tell you a true story that is actually sad, but perhaps there is a learning lesson for all of us here. Today I woke up ready to get busy. My basic routine is shower, shave and Java. I had a few meetings this morning so I had to stop at a local 7-11 for my java (coffee). I pull intorepparttar parking lot, find a parking spot and begin walking torepparttar 101374 front entrance. Just before I enteredrepparttar 101375 store I noticed a bicycle rack just outsiderepparttar 101376 front door. Let me explain that I have lived in Canada all of my life. You know we all live in igloos here. It is very cold this morning. On this bicycled rack is a bird, just sitting there. Upon closer inspection it appearsrepparttar 101377 bird is frozen solid, while maintaining an upright posture and stuck torepparttar 101378 bicycle rack. I might add when I looked closely atrepparttar 101379 bird, I observed that he had a pissed off look in his face. I guess I would to. Obviously there was nothing that could be done forrepparttar 101380 poor fellow so I got my Java and carried on.

As I am driving to
