Bumble Bee Fish Oil. Do You Need It?Written by Dave Saunders
The makers of Bumble Bee Tuna generated some buzz today by announcing they will be producing a fish oil supplement with their Tuna's name on bottle. None of reports mention if they are using an particular standization and quality processes or what methods they are using to ensure that environmental toxins are not being concentrated into their supplement. Of course, we can't fault reports from nation sources for not bringing up this issue. They lack understanding of subject and are busy trying to find "doctors" to give them quotes about a fish oil supplement being more or less effective than a name brand drug in fighting heart disease. So perhaps again, a bit of context is called for. We are a nation of people suffering from chronic diseases not caused by any virus or bacteria. We are a nation of people eating an abundance of highly processed foods and getting an insufficient amount of nutrients which provide building blocks of our very cells. Essential fatty acids are necessary for cellular functions throughout body. A quality fish oil supplement supplements typical lack of these "good fats" in our diet. Once again, a fish oil supplement is a supplement for nutrients not typically found in our modern diets.

The danger of skin cancer has heightened tanning awareness and interest in sunless tanning products. The Skin Cancer Foundation suggests, “as sun safety grows, so do benefits of sunless tanning”. More and more people are turning to safety and convenience of sunless tanning products to achieve a plentiful sun-kissed appearance and avoid harmful affects of sun exposure.
Maintaining healthy skin is very important in continuing good health and skin cancer prevention. The American Cancer Society reported over 59,000* new cases of skin cancer, also known as melanoma, in United States in 2004. With increased awareness and education, many people have started to heed warnings and dangers associated with sun exposure and related complications. Today, many regularly use sunscreen and protective clothing when conducting outdoor activities such as gardening, sporting events and even traveling in a car in an effort to safely protect their skin.
Even though we are aware of statistics and messages, most of us want to achieve a glowing tan every year, particularly during warmer months. Some prefer more harmful route of sunbathing or tanning beds, which result in a darker skin appearance when melanin is produced following sun exposure. The melanin alters skin pigment, causing skin to look darker. This process, which actually damages DNA, is an effort to protect skin from harmful ultraviolet radiation. Tanning beds are considered as harmful, if not slightly more so as direct sun exposure since tanning beds use ultraviolet radiation as tanning method.
Since there is no such thing as a healthy tan, development of sunless tanning lotions and sprays make achieving a healthy looking tan possible. Most sunless tanning products contain dihydroxyacetone, a chemical compound responsible for essentially staining skin. The dihydroxyacetone in sunless tanning product attaches to top layer of skin to alter pigment appearance. As dead skin flakes away, color will ultimately fade, requiring additional applications or treatments.
Ideal sunless tanning products, and commonly most popular, now include salon-quality home airbrush tanning systems, like Salon Bronze Tanning System. An applicator airbrush is used to prevent unsightly streaking and ensure an even application of bronzer to skin. Each Salon Bronze Tanning System application lasts for 7 to 10 days and is ideal for any skin shade or type.
