Breast Feeding Basics For Your Newborn Baby Written by Keziah Engineer
It is a myth that bottle-feeds and breast-feeding is equally good. Mother’s milk is best for proper growth of child. There are certain nutrients in mother’s milk that helps baby fight illnesses while also promoting brain development. As compared to breast fed babies, formula-fed babies are more prone to illnesses. Ideally you should start breast feeding child within 2 hours of its birth, but do not worry if for some reason you are not able to do so - many mothers feed their children after a few days because of some medical reasons and they turn out to be just fine. Apart from milk avoid giving child any water or pacifier because child is still learning to breast-feed and things like bottle nipple and pacifiers can confuse baby while nursing because milk doesn’t flow as fast as it does through bottles. Do give child enough time to breast-feed. Don’t limit time. It could frustrate baby. An average of about 10 to 45 minutes can be taken by baby to completely satisfy itself. So how should you hold your baby during breast feeding? The answer to this is that see to it that gums of baby are on top of areola because there is a chance of nipples becoming sore if baby just chews on nipple instead of taking in areola. You can hold baby in a cuddling position and feed it or you can lie on your side placing your baby facing you. Usually when baby has had enough milk it will let go of nipple on its own, but baby takes usually half an hour on each side. We’ll now move on to another critical issue which every breast-feeding mother needs to know about – what to eat during process of breast feeding. It is very important for a breastfeeding mother to have a healthy and balanced diet. A variety of foods are required during this period including: ·Get lots of vegetables and fruits – try and have an intake of 5 portions a day of fruit and veg. ·For additional energy try and take in starch rich foods such as bread, pasta, potatoes, pulses and rice – this will provide a good source of energy.
| | Smoking and ImpotenceWritten by Peter
Everybody is aware that excess of anything will lead to problems. Same is case with cigarettes. We know that nicotine is present in cigarettes and it is harmful for health. Scientifically it has been proven that smoking and impotence are interlinked. Smokers are not aware of fact that they are taking risk with their sex lives. Smokers also have a significantly higher probability of depression compared with non-smokers. Smoking done by a diabetic or person suffering from high blood pressure increases factor of erectile dysfunction (ED). Impotence caused by smoking may be due to toxins such as carbon monoxide damaging circulatory system, and hampering blood flow to and from penis. As well as running risk of impotence, report said men who smoke also have a lower sperm count and a higher proportion of malformed sperm. During an erection, large quantities of blood flow, under pressure, into penile arteries. This causes veins which drain penis to become compressed, so preventing immediate outflow of blood. This process is significantly impaired by smoking. 1.The route from where blood flows to penis is blocked by fatty deposits which are due to consumption of cigarettes. It may eventually lead to male impotence problems. 2.When Nicotine is taken in excess by an individual, it results in rapid contractions in penile tissue. It also affects stimulation in brain. A direct and immediate result of nicotine stimulation in brain restricts arterial blood flow into penis. This is known as acute vasospasm.
