Phishing is one of main scams in present moment. People set up phoney websites and email addresses. Then they spam Email inboxes with official-looking messages explaining that your account with Company X has encountered a problem and that they need you to login and confirm some details. The email addresses are masked to appear official and links provided in email all seem to check out. If you click on link provided then you will usually be taken to a site that looks for all intents and purposes to be official. When you click 'submit' your details will be sent to a criminal somewhere who will do as they please with your information, such as withdrawing money from a bank account or purchasing things in your name. The scam has been labelled 'Phishing' because criminals engaging in activity behave similarly to a fisherman throwing bait out in hope that they'll receive just one bite from millions of people that receive email.

So how do you avoid these online scams? First and foremost, it is important to realise that no legitimate organisation should be sending you a request to fill out your personal details because of some server error or for any other reason. Your bank will never send you an email with content along lines of "We've lost your bank account number and password... please supply them again for our records". You should also know that no bank is going to require your social security number, bank account number, and PIN number just to log in to your account or retrieve your password. Other sites such as Ebay, PayPal, and like will not email you asking for these details either.

A weird thing happened yesterday as I walked through my university campus. A young man approached me from a political organization that obviously was canvassing for new members. This is nothing new as there are always people attacking me for one cause or another. I am very interested in ways in which life and human society works especially in realm of spirituality and morality. However, I have to admit that I've never really gotten much out of politics, or economics which politics seems to be mainly focused on. For some reason I got into a conversation with this fellow and resulting experience affected me profoundly.

I don't know if his political group is relevant to this article but I will mention it is based around a U.S. Democrat named Lyndon Larouche. The guy was telling me in detail about how present world economy based around George Bush's American system is destined for failure and causing much trouble in world. This I agreed with wholeheartedly as I can't condone or imagine spending huge amounts of energy on killing people in a war as being a positive act.

He also mentioned one of my favorite human rights activists: Martin Luther King Jr. The guy was saying that under current conditions ruling fascist 'Empire' is suppressing individual thought and creativity and that masses of world had become mindless cattle. He said that key to evolving a new morally upstanding world society we will need individuals to once again think for themselves and change current economic structures that control life on earth. He used a lot of big economic-type terminology so some of what he said went over my head, but I generally took guy to be a nice, intelligent person who believed passionately about what he did. He gave impression that people like King are great transformers of beliefs in society, and that only truly awakened souls will be happy when they die.
