Are You Fighting the Wrong Enemy?Written by Monty J. Sharp
Are You Fighting Wrong Enemy? By Monty J. Sharp, Certified Comprehensive Coach http://www.workteamcoaching.com I read many articles weekly written by respected authors who give their impression of what holds people back from achieving success in life, business, whatever. The number one obstacle listed by most? Fear. Fear of failure. Fear of success. Fear of any or all of a dozen or more things - real or imagined. Fear, it would seem, is enemy we must conquer in order to reach "Promised Land" of our dreams and goals. I respectfully disagree. Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer." Everyone has fears - even extraordinarily successful. In fact, fear can be a quite useful thing. Many times it keeps us from doing things that could prove harmful - or just downright stupid. So why then do some achieve their dreams while others do not? I believe secret lies in knowing right enemy to conquer. You see, I do not believe that fear is real enemy, but rather what fear produces in us - that is real enemy we must conquer. What does fear produce in us that becomes enemy to our achievements and accomplishments? -- A belief in "fundamental lie". The fundamental lie is that false assumption, misunderstanding or inaccurate life formula that dictates many of our thoughts and actions and, therefore, results. Our fear screams to us, "What if you fail?" The fundamental lie whispers, "You will fail. There's no use in trying." Our actions are based on what we believe as truth in moment. -- Complacency. Quite simply stated, we settle for mediocre. The status quo. It has been said that before any meaningful change can occur, we must become wholly dissatisfied with status quo. Fear often produces in us a complacency that far outweighs our dissatisfaction with status quo, so we settle for less.

It has been awhile since devastating attack on America, yet many people are having a hard time continuing with their daily life and work. I think about attack and all peoples' lives that were forever changed and torn apart and have a hard time also. It is a heavy load for us to deal with, but we must carry on American dream and tradition. There are many things we can do to help. Donations, volunteering, and giving our support are just a few ways to help. But we also must help America and keep her strong and brave! We can do this by keeping economy going strong, continuing on with business and not letting cowardly attackers get best of American people! I am a member of many discussion lists and have read messages by several people who seem to be in a state of depression and lack of motivation that they cannot escape. I am hoping with this article to give some of these people reason or motivation to go on with life and business. If because of attack on America or for some other reason you cannot get motivated enough, think about questions and statements below. What motivated you in first place? What were reasons you first started your business? Do these reasons still apply. Think about why you got started and remember motivation and excitement you had then. Use that to get going today! Are you still passionate about your business? You chose your business because you had a passion for it, right? Is that passion still there? Take another look at your business and what brings out that passion. You will probably find that it is still there waiting for you! What will be gained or solved by not working? Think about what will happen if you let your work go and your business die. What will be gained? Will you have helped people affected by tragedy? NO Will you have helped America? NO Will you have helped yourself or your family? NO! If you DO get back to work and grow your business you will have helped America, your family and yourself.
