After the Storm......

Written by Nicholas Dixon

Have you ever wondered why is it that after we go through a bad phase in life we seem to come out better for it? It use to puzzle me too until recently after I stared down a gunman’s nozzle I realized why.

If you have ever been in a situation like I did and survived to tellrepparttar tale you would be more than grateful for everything. Andrepparttar 123069 worst part is that my family home was invaded by gunmen which left us with a feeling of being so vulnerable.

I used to place few emphasis onrepparttar 123070 things that matterrepparttar 123071 most to me in like my family, my friends andrepparttar 123072 joy I get from accomplishing goals and helping people.

It was after that I began to really feelrepparttar 123073 joy in seeing simple things likerepparttar 123074 tree leaves dancing inrepparttar 123075 gentle summer breeze. It was then that I began to really appreciaterepparttar 123076 twinkle of love in my daughter’s eyes every time she sees me.

Listen, I happen to live inrepparttar 123077 crime capital ofrepparttar 123078 Caribbean which is Jamaica. There is not a single day that you don’t read or hear negative news or stories coming your way. The caustic gossip and idle chatter that surround you can make you feel miserable absorbing all this stuff.

That’s why it is important to develop a positive attitude towards life. Developing one does not happen overnight but it can be done. Doing things like reading inspirational literature and articles, listening to uplifting music and having constructive talks with others are ways to build up your positive attitude.

Belly Dancing forrepparttar 123068 Midlife Soul

I have been a student and performer ofrepparttar 123069 Middle Eastern belly dance for 12 years. I began this dance form at age 52 when a friend of mine told me she was taking an Adult Education class in Middle Eastern belly dancing. Here was an opportunity right in my own community. I was going to live out my adult fantasy - to be a belly dancer! And so I joinedrepparttar 123070 class and have been a student ever since. I am now 64 and have no signs of slowing down.

In 1999, I started to teach a belly dance class to women overrepparttar 123071 age of 55. New classes begin on Thursday, May 10 from 10:15-11:30am at Oasis Continuing Education for Mature Adults atrepparttar 123072 Robinson/May company in Mission Valley.

And why do I teach this class? Because I love helpingrepparttar 123073 women re-discoverrepparttar 123074 magic and mystery of true feminine energy. Something miraculous happens to these women when they belly dance; they begin to emerge like an earth mother, a little girl, a prom queen and a seductress all in one. I help them to realize what I learned 12 years ago - that when we belly dance we get in touch withrepparttar 123075 profound wisdom and beauty of who we really are - no matter what our age or size of our belly.
