A TRICKLE OF ELECTRICITY

Written by Irvin L. Rozier

Luke 17.6 "Andrepparttar Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up byrepparttar 110349 root, and be thou planted inrepparttar 110350 sea and it should obey you."

During a period of unemployment, money was scarce. It was summer in south Georgia and was hot as blazes. The air conditioner in that old trailer where we lived was humming away, straining to keep some cool air in that hot box. I've seenrepparttar 110351 temperature insiderepparttar 110352 trailer soar to over 120 degrees whenrepparttar 110353 air conditioner was not running. Despiterepparttar 110354 cost of electricity, I continued to run it. I knew my electric bill would be high yet I had faith that God would make a way, somehow, someway. I had prayed.

Well, repparttar 110355 money forrepparttar 110356 electric bill never showed up and as I watchedrepparttar 110357 Georgia Power man drive up, I had a sinking feeling inrepparttar 110358 pit of my stomach. I could do without electricity but I was a single parent with three children. How would my children take a bath? How could I keep food without a refrigerator? All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind on how to cope with this additional trial.

Asrepparttar 110359 man cut offrepparttar 110360 source of electricity onrepparttar 110361 electric pole, my faith almost completely disappeared. The children were upset andrepparttar 110362 devil whispered, "You are a bum, look at you, God didn't help you...he's disappeared. You are on your own. You sure are a failure!"

Yet, I still remembered my prayer and I still had a small hope that God would work in my behalf. Not even thinking straight, I took two slices of bread and popped them inrepparttar 110363 toaster. In a couple of minutes, they popped up, crisply toasted. Imagine my surprise! My heart soared as I openedrepparttar 110364 refrigerator andrepparttar 110365 light came on. I rushed throughout that little trailer turning on switches. Some worked, some didn't.

Whatrepparttar 110366 Lord had allowed to be left on wasrepparttar 110367 refrigerator, four receptacles, andrepparttar 110368 hot water heater. I had a gas stove so we could still cook.

A couple of weeks later, repparttar 110369 money arrived to catch uprepparttar 110370 bill. Whenrepparttar 110371 Georgia Power man came to cutrepparttar 110372 meter back on, I met him, and said, "I've got to be honest with you, for two weeks we have had some electricity. You need to readrepparttar 110373 meter as I owe you for this electricity." He looked at me in disbelief and said, "That's impossible. I pulled this meter and inserted plastic strips so no contact withrepparttar 110374 electric source could be made." I replied, "You better look again." He looked closely atrepparttar 110375 plastic strips and noticed two tiny pinholes. This allowed enough contact to providerepparttar 110376 essential electricity we needed to get by. He looked at me and with a grin said, "The Lord was looking after you. There's barely enough reading onrepparttar 110377 meter to report. You won't owe any extra." As he drove away, repparttar 110378 story ofrepparttar 110379 mustard seed came to my mind. Yes, God can and did make a way!

Only You Can Prevent Money Problems

Written by Terry J. Rigg

People experience money problems for a variety of reasons. Maybe you lost your job, used your credit cards too much, have a bunch of medical bills, paid too much for your dream home or any number of other reasons.

What everrepparttar reasons for your money problems, most of them could be prevented. I know for a lot of you, I am talking inrepparttar 110348 past tense. The problems are already here so prevention is irrelevant. This is notrepparttar 110349 case.

Only when you understand how you could have preventedrepparttar 110350 problem inrepparttar 110351 first place will you be able to fix it. We don't need to look at symptoms here, we need to explore root causes. I have developed a theory. Some people aren't willing to sacrifice, no matter whatrepparttar 110352 rewards.

Sacrifice and discipline go hand in hand. It seems that our parents and grandparents understood this better than we do. They had to sacrifice just to put food onrepparttar 110353 table. They also understood that they had to forego what they wanted to have what they needed.
