And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw
light, that it was good: and God divided
light from
darkness. And God called
light Day, and
darkness he called Night. And
evening and
morning were
first day. And let them be for lights in
firmament of
heaven to give light upon
earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights;
greater light to rule
day, and
lesser light to rule
night: he made
stars also. And God set them in
firmament of
heaven to give light upon
earth, And to rule over
day and over
night, and to divide
light from
darkness: and God saw that it was good.
And
Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them
way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: And he shall be as
light of
morning, when
sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as
tender grass springing out of
earth by clear shining after rain. The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.
He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light
shadow of death.
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and
light shall shine upon thy ways.
Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused
light of his cloud to shine? By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like
eyelids of
morning. For thou wilt light my candle:
Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
Lord is
strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? For with thee is
fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as
light, and thy judgment as
noonday.
O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. For they got not
land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and
light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
The day is thine,
night also is thine: thou hast prepared
light and
sun. Blessed is
people that know
joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in
light of thy countenance.
Light is sown for
righteous, and gladness for
upright in heart.
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out
heavens like a curtain: He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in
night. Unto
upright there ariseth light in
darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
God is
Lord, which hath shewed us light: bind
sacrifice with cords, even unto
horns of
altar. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto
simple.
If I say, Surely
darkness shall cover me; even
night shall be light about me. Yea,
darkness hideth not from thee; but
night shineth as
day:
darkness and
light are both alike to thee.
Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. But
path of
just is as
shining light, that shineth more and more unto
perfect day. For
commandment is a lamp; and
law is light; and reproofs of instruction are
way of life.
The light of
eyes rejoiceth
heart: and a good report maketh
bones fat. In
light of
king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of
latter rain.
Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness. Truly
light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for
eyes to behold
sun.
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in
light of
Lord. To
law and to
testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in
land of
shadow of death, upon them hath
light shined.
Moreover
light of
moon shall be as
light of
sun, and
light of
sun shall be sevenfold, as
light of seven days, in
day that
Lord bindeth up
breach of his people, and healeth
stroke of their wound.
I
Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of
people, for a light of
Gentiles; And I will bring
blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. I form
light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I
Lord do all these things.
And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up
tribes of Jacob, and to restore
preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to
Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto
end of
earth.
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of
people. Then shall thy light break forth as
morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee;
glory of
Lord shall be thy rereward. And if thou draw out thy soul to
hungry, and satisfy
afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as
noonday.
