A Rose is not Just a RoseWritten by Sam Stevens
The rose is perhaps one of most powerful symbols in metaphysical world. It is also one of most accessible tools that can be used for everyday magic. The gift of a rose is also one of simplest ways to say, "I love you" without too much hocus-pocus. The thorns on its stems represent "prick" of love and overcoming of obstacles to achieve your desires. It is pinnacle of metaphorical purity and symbolizes completion and perfection. The element associated with rose is Water, so it is particularly friendly to astrological signs of Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. Both Mercury and Venus rule this flower. A bath in rose petals or rose water (which is distilled from buds) is said to attract love to bathing beauty. An ancient custom is to sprinkle bed of newly weds with rose petals to sweeten initial carnal relations. In ancient alchemical formulas red rose is used as a masculine principle and rose represents feminine or receptive principle. The combination of two (perhaps growing two bushes intertwined in garden) represents harmony and unity. Rose oil, which is extracted through a rather expensive process from petals of flower, is also prominent in both love and healing rituals. When applied temples oil is said to cure a headache. When applied to thighs or breasts it is supposed to attract a suitor. As an essential oil, rose's essence is thought to relieve depression, PMS and postnatal depression. It is also said to cure frigidity and impotence. Bach's Herbal Remedies makes a distillation of Wild Rose. Taking drops of this under your tongue is thought to help patient free themselves from a rut or feelings of hopelessness and being trapped by fate. Rose water is used in cooking spells and added to curries and cake mixes to infuse dish with good spirits and love attracting qualities. The water is also splashed on skin (but not around eyes) to give you a complexion as dewy as flower.
| | The Male Rating SystemWritten by Sam Stevens
While not necessarily New Age in nature, Samantha has noticed a lot of clients asking questions about their potential beaus lately and she thought this refreshing change might be just what was needed to help our female Realm members keep things in perspective regarding their male paramours. Enjoy! -David - Believe it or not, if you go into forums on web sites that are devoted to subject of how to pick up girls, you will find people posting messages about something that is called mating rating system. Reading one of these forums is kind of a rude wake up call if you ever thought that men "rated" us on such qualities as humor, intelligence or charm. Instead this rating system, which in a state of constant debate seems to be based on leg length, size of your lips, how high your cheek bones are and whether or not you have big breasts. The Male Rating system finds its origins in movie"10" starring Dudley Moore and Bo Derek. This was a romantic comedy that was made in seventies that featured adventures of a neurotic alcoholic who was looking for a woman who he considered to be a perfect Ten on his personal rating scale. He finally finds her in person of Bo Derek, who is six feet tall, has long blonde hair, full lips, icy blue eyes, legs that go on forever, a tiny waist and a very vacuous smile. My opinion is that if men are going to rate us, there is no reason why we can't develop our own system to rate men. However because men are more sex oriented and women are more relationship oriented our rating system is going to be a little more sophisticated. It also won't be as racially BIASED as male rating system, which seems to prefer Aryan ideal of Nordic Queen. To find out how your male rates on our rating system answer following questions by choosing an option below. Choose only one option. You can add up points as you go along. Be forewarned you will never find another rating system anywhere that is as honest and forthright as this one. It is based on very realistic criteria that could bring your head down out of clouds and could really make you think twice about who it is you are going out with.
