A JOB AND A JOB PROMOTIONWritten by Irvin L. Rozier
This is a short version of story number 19 (out of 50) from my book, My Walk with Lord, http://www.selahbooks.com/ Psalm 75. 6,7 "For promotion cometh neither from east, nor from west, nor from south. But God is judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another." I was seeking Lord for right job He wanted me to have. I had submitted many applications, but had not had an interview. Those of you who have been through a period of unemployment can understand frustration of this, especially with bills piling up. However, when trusting God, we understand value of waiting for God's timing. As I rode by local shopping mall, a vacant buidling nearby would draw me. Several times, I pulled up to this building and Lord spoke to me and said, "This building is where I want you to work." I had no idea of what kind of work I'd be doing. The Lord was silent on that subject. About two weeks later, I saw a job advertisement in local paper. The job was for an instructor of retail sales at a small vocational school. The applications were being accepted at---you guessed it---that vacant building near mall. I submitted application, was interviewed and offered job. At same time, I was offered a state job with more money and benefits. I did not hestitate when Lord spoke to me and said "Take instructor position." Each morning before class, I would read a verse of scripture. A few students
| | QUEENIE AND THE PETUNIASWritten by Irvin L. Rozier
This is story number 33 (out of 50) from my book, My Walk with Lord, published Nov 03. Matthew 5.4 "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." A few weeks after Mama died (Jan 01), a beautiful golden retriever showed up at my house. She had obviously belonged to someone but my brother-in-law, Joe, who lives nearby, and I had no inkling to whom she belonged. Obvious, too, was her impending motherhood. This dog was kindest and sweetest natured dog that I have ever seen. Her personality reminded me of Mama. I named her Queenie because she looked like royalty. She was a neighborhood dog. Queenie would make rounds every day to visit with neighbors and get her treats. Mrs. Kelly, who I wrote about earlier, especially liked Queenie. Soon she had eight beautiful puppies. After they were weaned, we had no trouble finding homes for these lovely pups, half lab and half golden retriever. My nephew kept one and named him Cocoa. On May 20, 03, I had taken Cocoa and Queenie on their morning run. I would drive golfcart and they would have a ball running, chasing squirrels and birds. That morning, Queenie even chased up a wild turkey. We came back, and I was talking to my sister, Joanne, when we saw a truck come by and heard a loud thump. Normally, Queenie didn't chase vehicles, but she ran right in front of that truck and was killed. I buried her and placed a little white cross over grave and wrote on it, "Queenie, May 20, 03; Sent from God."
