A Grounded Look at the Nature of HealingWritten by Samantha Thurlby-Brooks
In “Evidence for Sixth Sense”, Hazel Courteney interviews an American scientist, Gary Schwartz, regarding nature of energy and its relationship with physical world. He explains three worldviews; one, that matter produces energy, it is a side effect of physical world. For example, sun is a physical object, and it produces energy in form of light. The second theory was put forward by Einstein, theorises that energy and matter are both sides of same coin, neither of them being before other. Energy can create matter and matter can create energy. Regarding this theory, Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955), a French Catholic Priest and Philosopher, theorised that matter is outward manifestation and conscious energy is inward manifestation of world. This implies that everything is conscious regardless of how basic or apparently ‘lifeless’ it is.The new, third theory, put forward by quantum physics, is that what is primary is energy, and what we call matter is actually organised energy. Matter is a dense form of energy, and emotions, thoughts and spirit realm are made of increasingly less dense and faster vibrating forms of energy. We understand that atoms are fundamental units of matter, being made of a central nucleus of protons and neutrons, and surrounded by circulating electrons. These atoms are only seen by using a very powerful microscope, and can only be seen by physical eye when in a mass lump containing many millions or billions of atoms. These atoms create appearance of a physical object when they are organised and come together. The Scottish philosopher David Hume (1711-76) spoke about organised matter; he said that a table is a table because atoms are working together to keep it there. If atoms decided to vibrate in same direction table would lift off of ground, or if they vibrated in opposite directions, they would cause table to split and ‘vanish’. So, atoms are vibrating particles of minute size. In terms of relative size within atom, you could think of a single atom being size of Empire State Building. Given that atom is this size, its nucleus would actually be size of a grain of sand, however this is where most mass is (mass being matter). Putting this in terms of ‘real’ size of atom, we can see that this is an amazing ratio. 99% of an atom is therefore ‘empty’ space between nucleus and surrounding electrons.

Seichem- The Elemental Healing RaysSince emergence of Reiki at beginning of last century, and its introduction to west, there have been many variations in way energy healing is taught. As it has developed, people have added information and understandings and have also had similar experiences to that of Mikao Usui, man who founded Reiki for present time. This has created more names for energy healing than Eskimos have for snow! Energy healing works on idea that world is an energy system made from differing frequencies. The physical world is made from very dense frequencies which is why we can see them. Other energies such as microwaves, radio-waves, sound-waves and radiation are frequencies of energy that are less dense and so we cannot ordinarily see them. Around physical objects there is a frequency of energy that we do not ordinarily see, scientifically known as electromagnetic energy field, or aura. It is in these layers of energy around animal and human bodies that are thought by many, for thousands of years, to contain emotions, thoughts and our connection with universe. Scientific research is now finding ways to show this to be true. Seichem is one type of energy healing that has become popular in UK. Another form similar to Seichem, called Karuna, has also become very popular. There are other forms of healing called Sekhem, Seichim, and SKHM etc, which are actually different from Seichem in way they are taught, but share similar roots. This group of energy healings have elements of Egyptian teachings, as in ancient Egypt energy healing was commonplace. Seichem is passed on in a similar way to Reiki. It is understood that Reiki is a part of Seichem, being one (the earth element) of four healing energies, which include, Sakara (fire element) Sophi-El (water element) and Angelic Light (air and spirit element). When we talk of ‘elemental rays’ we are not talking of physical manifestation or energy from earth, fire, water or air (three dimensional substances), we are talking of energy frequencies that pervade universe. In Seichem teachings Reiki forms foundation for other healing rays grounding them all, and working on physical and mental body. It is usually experienced as a deep heat or warmth. Sakara is fire elemental ray, bringing in a rainbow of protective light which surrounds aura. Sakara is experienced as a hot tingling sensation like a mild electrical current, working well on electromagnetic fields that create aura. Sophi-El is water elemental ray and is experienced as waves of cool energy. This ray increases practitioner’s psychic awareness and works well on emotional issues. Angelic Light is a two-fold ray connecting to elemental ray of air and Angelic realm. It is experienced as a gentle breeze blowing at finger tips, helping mental healing and enhancing practitioner’s perception through third eye.
