A Free, Powerful Method to Market Your Business OnlineWritten by Andrea Susan Glass
How to Write Articles for Promotion & ProfitWant another great idea on how to market your business for FREE? Write articles. This powerful method actually works online and off. You can write articles in your area of expertise and submit them to local newspapers as well as trade magazines or newsletters that are read by your target market. Online, you can submit your articles to a variety of directories. Suppose you are a coach and want to work with people in financial field. Accountants, bankers, financial advisors all belong to associations that produce member newsletters. Additionally these professions have trade magazines. An article that demonstrates how a coach can help build an accountant’s practice or bring balance to life of an overworked banker would be perfect for these markets. What Are Main Benefits? 1.Build credibility—which builds trust and people buy from those they trust. 2.Increase traffic—thousands will be reading your articles and visiting your site. 3.Create links—trading with others for their articles. 4.Establish expertise—you’ll become known in your field. How Do You Write a Winning Article? 1.Choose a title that grabs attention—since you have about five seconds to hold your audience, make sure your title clearly spells out benefits to reader with impact! 2.Focus your topic on your narrowly niched market, as in example of people who work in financial industry. This way you can write specifically to address their problems and offer your products and services as best solution. 3.Keep tone friendly, yet stay on track. Present problem, offer solution, present benefits of using someone like you. Offer practical tips reader can implement immediately. Show them how to take next step by using a real life example. Finish up with a call to action. 4.Have a resource box after your article with your name, contact information and an irresistible offer, such as a free report or consultation. Because you’re using an article for promotion, ultimate goal is to have reader click on your Web site link and eventually buy something from you.

How to Create a Winning Marketing Plan in 6 Simple StepsIt’s surprising how many businesses open their doors without a business plan. You may not have to have every element of a business plan written down to be successful, but without financial projections and a marketing plan, you have no roadmap to success. The marketing plan section of a business plan is generally a complex document requiring many hours of thought and planning. If you’re a small businessperson and need something quick to get going, plan need not be extensive, however, it should be written down, followed consistently and updated periodically. In order to get people started and avoid overwhelm, I’ve devised a formula for a simple, straightforward marketing plan. It begins with a six-step outline and then progresses to a chart. Each of these can be completed in about 30 minutes and will provide day-to-day marketing decisions every business owner needs to make. 1. Why: am I in business? What is benefit to my customer? What is my vision? 2. Who: is my target market? Can I identify a specific niche? 3. Where: can I find them? Do they belong to certain groups, read specific media? 4. How: do I want to reach them? Will I give talks, go to networking events, do mailings, attend trade shows? 5. What: marketing materials do I need? Web site, brochure, newsletter, ads? 6. When: am I going to implement this strategy? What am I going to do and when am I going to do it?
