ABOUT THE ARTISTS OF BRÜCKE

Written by Blur Loterina

Ever heard of a political art group? Artists who use art, particularly painting, to influence or to move people to action? I have read of those in our history class before---it was quite boring then. I used to think of it as an exaggeration of a hero’s life. Until I read one of my favorite music artist’s biography. His father was a leader of Chicano artists, repparttar “Los Four”. It’s a sort of a mural movement. But this is besiderepparttar 107376 point. My objective for writing this article is to bring more light into “die brücke”, a group of German expressionist artists, which markedrepparttar 107377 beginning of modern art in Germany.

Sincerepparttar 107378 early part of twentieth century German Expressionism was very popular and it influenced most ofrepparttar 107379 movements to oppose Impressionists.

Die Brücke, German words meaning “the bridge”, was founded in Dresden by architectural students lead by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in 1905. Erich Heckel, Fritz Bleyl, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff gathered regularly in Kirchner’s studio. They were later joined by Emil Nolde and Max Pechstein.

The group was called “brücke” becauserepparttar 107380 members have common interests and ideology. The bridge also symbolizes link, since one of their objective is to link torepparttar 107381 future and to use art to changerepparttar 107382 society. Through art, they linked German history with their own cultural past. They despised academic traditions and strict constraints ofrepparttar 107383 leading academies, realism and impressionism.

Although, most ofrepparttar 107384 members ofrepparttar 107385 Brücke were not trained artists, they were able to express their feelings and imaginations through harsh and orgiastic colors, particularlyrepparttar 107386 black and white contrasts, distorted shapes and lines, exaggerated forms, and anti-illusionistic perspective. The subjects of their artwork include urban cabarets and dancehalls, mostly inrepparttar 107387 nudes.

Review on the Book "Photoshop for Right-Brainers: The Art of Photo Manipulation" by Al Ward

Written by Paul Hood

Al Ward's book offersrepparttar reader an innovative and custom made guide in manipulating photos suited to your taste. I find this interesting as it gives me a free hand in learning techniques without confining me to a rigid set of rules. Much room is left for personal discovery. I prefer this as I do not like being confined to just a particular limitation in learning.

The book is a tutorial that exploresrepparttar 107375 endless capabilities of Photoshop and explains how one can make use of this to its fullest potential. A good point to mention here is thatrepparttar 107376 book was designed not just to teach you how to do it but it also let you develop your skills without compromising creativity. The reader is made aware ofrepparttar 107377 basics and picks up from there encouraging you to create styles that are your very own. There will be times when you’ll lose interest in discovering new things and this will be your fountain of youth.
