3 "Healthy" Foods NOT to EatWritten by Ryan Cote
There are three foods that are labeled "healthy," but for reasons I'll outline below, you should stay away from.Food #1: Fruit Juices like Orange Juice and Apple Juice Sure they contain vitamin C and may come from real fruit, but fact of matter is, they are loaded with sugar! Yes, it's natural sugar, but it's still sugar- and we all know sugar turns to fat. They now have fruit juices with half sugar- give them a try instead- they actually taste pretty good. Food #2: Energy/Protein/Meal bars like Balance Bars Some claim to have perfect ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates- and they do. Some just claim to be a good meal replacement bar because they contain fat and protein, and vitamins and minerals- and they do. But if you take a look at label of most bars, you'll see high fructose corn syrup, sugar and in some bars fractionated oils. It's so self-defeating, it blows my mind. Go with bars that have healthy ingredients such as Clif bars, Luna Bars and Odwalla bars.
| | Does your Water Supply contain Drugs or ToxinsWritten by Alfred Jones
Scientists have discovered Pharmaceutical Drugs and Toxins in Water Supply, Are you drinking this potentially dangerous cocktail.Water treatment plants are set up to eliminate certain types of waste materials, such as pesticides, herbicides and heavy metals from water supply. They cannot however cope, neither are they equipped to deal with pharmaceuticals, as you will probably know, up to 90% of drugs that are taken in to our bodies, is eliminated by kidneys and urine, so whatever passes through our bodies, eventually end up back at water treatment plant and then in to our water supply. Pharmaceuticals are just one of a huge number of toxins and pollutants that are present in water supply, they can even contain residue of DDT, which does not break down for a very long time. There can be drugs which could react adversely with drugs that you are currently taking, list of pollutants in water supplies seem to be growing all time. It was brought to light initially by scientists in Germany in 1997 and published in Journal, Chemosphere, when it was found that there were pharmaceutical drugs in water supply for Berlin. A number of researchers agree that concentration of antibiotics in our water supply is currently 1000 times higher than it was in 1997, High enough to cause mutation of e-coli bacteria in to strains that are resistant to normal antibiotics, this has already occurred in United States and elsewhere. When e-coli was first found at water treatment plants, Time Magazine cover, portrayed e-coli running out of a kitchen tap or faucet, it has also been found in swimming pools.
