Media Type: Since PS3 is owned by Sony and BLUray is Sony’s next high definition storage medium, PS3 games will be stored on BLUray discs which hold approximately 54 gigs. The Xbox 360 games will be stored on Double Layer DVDs which store 9 gigs. Obviously BLUray discs can store a lot more data, but at current stage of game development, any game developed will fit just as well on 9 gig DVDs, so this is not a major factor but one that may come into play later on.

Games: When considering games, you have to look at XBOX and PS2. The XBOX is very popular in US and has a few great franchise games such as Halo, but PS2 has an international reach and several popular game franchises such as Gran Tourismo that XBOX has yet to beat. The XBOX 360 will need to appeal to foreign game developers and consumers to compete with PS3. Only time will which console will have quality of games which all of us are been expecting

Controllers: The controllers on two systems retain basic shape from original systems with some modifications. The PS3 controller has most dramatic change; it has a streamline shape that looks more like a stealth airplane than a game controller. The XBOX controller is basically same shape as previous system with a different color scheme. From pictures released, it seems XBOX controller will be more comfortable and natural to use. The PS3 controller looks like it would just slip out of your hand but we will not know how controllers feel during actual gameplay until we get our hands on them.

There different operating systems on market. Most likely software on your server is running Apache on Linux, an open source product. Servers need to be secured and an open source application is more likely to be less buggy and more secure then their larger competitor Microsoft.

These servers use an interface for you to access and configure them, a control panel. Some control panels are more complicated then others. Depending how technical you are, this is a point of concern when picking a server host.

• Protocol. (FTP) To get your page on server you need to FTP (file transfer protocol). FTP is a client (you) server application. If you created your page on your desk top, obviously to share it you would need to get it on your server. It’s also used to transfer files between your own pc to someone else’s computer.

This is a very simplistic overview of what a server host is, but I hope it will give you a basic idea how it works.
