Why Women Talk and Men Don't

Men then proceed to talk to a woman as if she is a mental patient or will cut her off by saying "We've been over this a dozen times", "How much longer will this take?" and "This conversation is too much hard work and isn't going anywhere!"

Indirect Talk In Business When a woman uses indirect speech in business, it can prove problematic because men may have difficulty following a multi-tracked, indirect conversation.

Men need to be presented with clear, logical, organised ideas and information before they will make a decision. A woman can have her ideas and requests rejected purely because her male boss didn't have a clue what she really wanted.

Too Much Talking Can Waste Time And Money I met with an accountant last year who had a chronic case of verbal diarrhoea. Fromrepparttar moment we met until I left, she wouldn’t stop talking. It was very difficult trying to get a word in. This was not a good way to establish rapport. No doubt she would have lost many business opportunities because of her talkative nature.

Something she was also oblivious to wasrepparttar 140772 personality differences. When you look atrepparttar 140773 different personality styles, I’mrepparttar 140774 impatient type who wants to get torepparttar 140775 point. This lady was trying to build a relationship with me and unknown to her, was doingrepparttar 140776 exact opposite…driving me away.

Through coaching I’ve learned to listen, however this woman was a shocker. I was so tired when I left…her talking wore me down. There was no way I’d ever want to see or speak to her again. Can you imagine what it would be like to be a client of hers?. Every time you’d ring her with a query, she’d take 10 times longer than necessary to answer it and you’d be paying forrepparttar 140777 privilege! I bet she’d berepparttar 140778 most unproductive person in her business and also waste her own staff’s time because of her incessant talking.

The Final Word Today we’ve focussed onrepparttar 140779 talking factor between men and women. Understanding your own personality style and those of others will provide you with a greater insight on how to communicate more effectively regardless of gender.

Do You Need a Personal Assistant?

I knew it wasn’t going to work but he was adamant to give it a go as he didn’t want to invest in additional staff. It didn’t take long for him to realise he had made a big mistake and that no amount of further training would bring her skill level to where he needed it to be. Within 4 weeks he hired a trained personal assistant who was highly organised and could easily undertakerepparttar tasks required.

Gary’s Story Gary isrepparttar 140771 Sales Manager of a building company. He manages a team of 15 people. Gary began coaching with me last year. One of his key goals was to finish work by 5.30 p.m. each day. At that stage he was commencing work at 7.00 a.m. and going home at 7.30 p.m. at night. Not much fun right? He had no time for his life. Working these hours he was overstressed, overweight, unwell andrepparttar 140772 long hours took their toll on his family life.

There were a range of other issues affecting Gary’s productivity…the key ones were his poor time management skills, his inability to say ‘no’ and not having competent staff to delegate to. The staff issue was directly related to Gary’s time management skills. When new people joined his department they were left to their own devices with no on-going training. The staff turnover was a direct reflection of his management skills. His regular team’s performance wasn’t monitored and they never experienced any further development. In other words, Gary wasn’t an effective leader.

He had no dedicated personal assistant to delegate basic administrative tasks to and to assist him directly with his role. Gary had to look after clients and suppliers as well as his own team. The ‘people’ issues took up much of Gary’s time, therefore he extended his working hours to catch up on his own tasks… many of which could have been delegated to a competent personal assistant.

Through using our Weekly Planner to record where he was spending his time, Gary discovered he was wasting a minimum of 15 hours a week on administrative tasks which could easily be handled by an assistant. Gary’s time was worth $200 an hour and here he was wasting $3000 worth of his time minimum per week which could easily be delegated to a personal assistant who would cost his company $800 - $1000 per week.

The crazy thing about this was he procrastinated for weeks about hiring a support person. Once he sawrepparttar 140773 real truth, he quickly got off his butt and took action.

The Final Word If you want to have more time to focus on what really counts in your business/organisation, then consider letting go and find an assistant who hasrepparttar 140774 skills you need to help you berepparttar 140775 best you can be.
