When Anxiety Comes

Written by Jeff Doles

Since we haverepparttar Spirit of power, love and sound mind at work in us, my wife and I have developed a different approach torepparttar 126721 what if voices ofrepparttar 126722 enemy? Instead of worrying and becoming paralyzed with fear, or eaten up with anxiety, we begin to speak some different what ifs. What if God brings us provision? What if God fixes this broken thing or replaces it? What if God heals us? What if God watches over our children? What if God brings us out of debt? What if God blesses us? In other words, we counter fear with faith, curse with blessing, and anxiety with joyful anticipation.

The devil tries to throw a lot of what ifs at us, but he cannot bring any of them to pass—-unless we start to believe them. Onrepparttar 126723 other hand, God has many wonderful promises for us, and if we trust Him, He will bring them all to pass. God is not moved by our worries or fears, but He is moved by our faith in His Word. So instead of repeating any ofrepparttar 126724 thingsrepparttar 126725 devil whispers in our ears, why not start repeatingrepparttar 126726 Word of God. The lies ofrepparttar 126727 enemy cannot stand up torepparttar 126728 truth ofrepparttar 126729 Word.

The psalm writer said, “Inrepparttar 126730 multitudes of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight my soul.” That is, instead of turning himself over to his anxious thoughts, though they were overwhelming, he turned himself over torepparttar 126731 Lord. Instead of meditating on worry, he meditated onrepparttar 126732 Word. He pressed into his covenant with God. In this way, he experiencedrepparttar 126733 comfort of divine love and faithfulness, instead ofrepparttar 126734 chaos of fear and anxiety.

This strategy calls for two definite, qualitative, and decisive actions:

First, let go ofrepparttar 126735 anxieties. They may come into your head, but do not give them a place in your heart. Whenrepparttar 126736 devil comes and whispers fear into your ear, do not give it life by speaking it with your mouth. Give it no quarter.

Second, embracerepparttar 126737 comforts ofrepparttar 126738 Lord—His Spirit, His Word, His power, His love andrepparttar 126739 soundness of His own mind. Then open your mouth and, instead of repeatingrepparttar 126740 fears, start speakingrepparttar 126741 promises.

Inrepparttar 126742 margin of my Bible, at Psalm 94.19, I have expressed it as an equation (not very grammatical, but it works): Let go ofrepparttar 126743 anxieties + Embracerepparttar 126744 comforts ofrepparttar 126745 Lord = Delights my soul.

The Emmaus Journal - "Quietness"

Written by C.L. Mareydt

Oh, surely I have caught thee though no capture can it be for quietness is not mine nor can I send it to thee.

But remainsrepparttar invisible gift that seems to ebb and flow for quietness you see my friend tis revealed withinrepparttar 126720 soul.

Quietness has therefore remained ageless and underestimated. Few words can describe it accurately, for quietness is full of ethereal ambiguities that are evasive torepparttar 126721 reasoning mind. Quietness fleetingly appears beforerepparttar 126722 natural eye, only to mysteriously dissolve in a flood of nouns and synonyms. The quality of quietness like a healing ointment bids to embracesrepparttar 126723 soul and sootherepparttar 126724 anxious heart. Through quietness we are enabled to engagerepparttar 126725 universe and reflect uponrepparttar 126726 cosmos of time. Through such quietness we incorporaterepparttar 126727 infinite knowledge withinrepparttar 126728 spirit withrepparttar 126729 mind's eye directed toward reality. In such quietness we reach toward our Creator in communion, withrepparttar 126730 heart set toward eternal proclamations.

Till in absence of myself to bequeath a portion divine there needs to be willingness of soul swept into quietness sublime.
