What is a Web Service?

The html code used byrepparttar Web today is inadequate forrepparttar 118870 Web services task. Html is great for formatting Web pages, but it tells you nothing aboutrepparttar 118871 data contained inrepparttar 118872 Web page. XML (eXtensible Markup Language) allows programmers to define their own tags to describerepparttar 118873 data on a Web page, and communicate those definitions torepparttar 118874 receiving system. XML is not binary computer code, similar to html, XML is just ASCII text.

When a Web site wants to use a Web Service, it makes a request in a standard format called SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). SOAP messages are written in XML. SOAP messages are sent back and forth betweenrepparttar 118875 service provider and service consumer. How does a programmer know what services are provided and what messages to use in accessing them? Web services use a standard message format called WSDL (Web Services Description Language) to describe themselves. WSDL is written in XML.

How does a developer find available Web Services? They can be found by using a protocol called UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration) to search a directory of services available. Web Service providers register their services inrepparttar 118876 directory. Developers can locate and select a provider forrepparttar 118877 service that meet their requirements. Similar torepparttar 118878 licensing fees paid byrepparttar 118879 developer ofrepparttar 118880 word processor forrepparttar 118881 spell checking component, web developers will have to pay forrepparttar 118882 use of Web Services.

Developers don't have to use Web Services developed by other people. Microsoft's .NET and Sun Microsystems's J2EE are frameworks that contain resources and class libraries for developing Web Services. There are also a number of open source framework's available, for examplerepparttar 118883 Mono project hosted byrepparttar 118884 open Source software company Ximian. www.ximian.com/devzone/projects/mono.html

When you use a Web Service or a Web site that uses a Web Service, either licensed or directly, you will be required to pay, and you WILL use Web Services, because desktop applications will no longer be available. The former practice of paying one-time to use a software application as much as you want does not generate a continuous stream of revenue for software companies. Web Services allowrepparttar 118885 software companies to milk a continuous stream of money from you. Maybe that isrepparttar 118886 simple explanation of Web services that we can't seem to find. ---------------------------------------------------------- Resource Box: Copyright(C)2002 Bucaro TecHelp. Five Ways to Make Money With ClickBank

Written by Steve Shaw

Continued from page 1

And you won't be alone - thousands of web masters sell through ClickBank including people like Ben Prater, Joe Vitale and Jim Edwards.

3. Sign up your own ClickBank affiliates

Just by signing up with ClickBank as a vendor, you can start recruiting affiliates to sell YOUR product almost immediately - and if affiliates are receiving commissions from selling your product, that means YOU are making money.

You can define exactly what level of commission you want your affiliates to receive - personally I give my affiliates 50% so we're both on an equal footing.

4. Send ClickBank new clients

You can earn cash just by promoting ClickBank itself, full details are available at http://www.clickbank.com/reseller.html - it's not big bucks, but it's useful as an additional income stream with commissions ranging between $0.05 and $10.00.

5. Promote a ClickBank Storefront

ClickBank's own MarketPlace is fairly limited in terms of functionality, but various companies offer a 'storefront' for all (or some) ofrepparttar products listed in ClickBank's MarketPlace, and each one of which will have your ClickBank affiliate nickname attached.

The idea is that you promote your own storefront, and get commissions from people who visit and go on to purchase products that are listed.

The most powerful one I've seen is at http://www.CBGold.com, but there's a couple others you can view for comparison at 1stPromotion.com and ClickbankAffiliates.com.
