What can Wikis be used for? Wikis have spawned some interesting uses, includingrepparttar development of knowledge bases on both intranets andrepparttar 141983 Internet. Product documentation, tutorials and online FAQs are increasingly created using Wiki collaboration. Other collaborative Wiki projects that have been spawned include a Wiki dictionary and directory of famous quotes.

Wikitionary - Wikitionary, a collaborative project to produce a free multilingual dictionary in every language, with definitions, etymologies, pronunciations and quotations. - http://en.wiktionary.org

Wiki Quote - Wikiquote, a free online compendium of quotations in every language, including sources (where known), and translations of non-English quotes. - http://en.wikiquote.org

Overall, Wikis are influential, shaping collaborative online content development, and are likely to become increasingly popular. Sadly, as a Wiki's popularity grows, it is likely Wiki abuse will grow.

All of these applications are great except for one thing. Publishing an RSS feed means using another piece of software where you need to cut and paste your content for it to be published. Do not get me wrong, this additional software is a great time saver for webmasters, but what they really need is an application that is integrated into their existing web publishing software. I am sure this will happen soon for many ofrepparttar major titles but it would be nice to see some independent software writers produce an all inclusive publishing system.

I realise that every webmaster has different needs so such a piece of RSS publishing software may not be for everyone but it would sure make RSS publishing a whole lot more attractive to webmasters. Byrepparttar 141982 way if you are using such a piece of software or you are a programmer currently writing RSS publishing software then let me know at rss{at}newsniche{dot}com.
