On normal rainy day visits, we slipped and slid uprepparttar hill torepparttar 118229 house, sideways;repparttar 118230 car then looking like it had been through a mud bath. But, whenrepparttar 118231 creek was up, once pastrepparttar 118232 barn, we were only half way there. Then, one watched every step, uphill, to avoidrepparttar 118233 rocks and crevices (where one could twist an ankle) to miss sinking intorepparttar 118234 mud pits.

Uncles, Dad's brothers, came to meet us nearrepparttar 118235 barn, to help get little ones and luggage uprepparttar 118236 hill.

But, byrepparttar 118237 time we all made it torepparttar 118238 house, we were muddy and tired. We didn't walk 5 miles throughrepparttar 118239 snow. But, whenrepparttar 118240 creek was up, it sure felt like it.

Our evening entertainment selection was a toss up between watching coal burn or countingrepparttar rat wholes inrepparttar 118228 walls. Though, repparttar 118229 flicker of lanterns was cool to observe.

Oh, and night time was so exhausting ... three of us sisters trying to sleep in a three-quarter feather bed, with quilts piled so high one couldn't reposition themselves if they had to. The only thing welcomed about that was awaking to frigid temperatures wherein we, finally, were glad to not move. Only, repparttar 118230 bladder usually did not cooperate. Rats!

The highlight ofrepparttar 118231 entire event was returning home to watch our friends drool. We had vacationed just outside of London, all right ... London, KY. Awe,repparttar 118232 good old days.
