The Reward of ObedienceWritten by Joyce C. Lock
Continued from page 1 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by root, and be thou planted in sea; and it should obey you. Then Peter and other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. And word of God increased; and number of disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of priests were obedient to faith. By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to faith among all nations, for his name. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in lusts thereof. But they have not all obeyed gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? But now is made manifest, and by scriptures of prophets, according to commandment of everlasting God, made known to all nations for obedience of faith: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Elect according to foreknowledge of God Father, through sanctification of Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to former lusts in your ignorance: Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying truth through Spirit unto unfeigned love of brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: For time is come that judgment must begin at house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall end be of them that obey not gospel of God? The same person who I said is "easily distracted by shiny objects" chose, "Market More in 2004" for his theme last year. Since then, his business has grown so much that he's decided it's time to raise his prices! One of my clients chose phrase, "Fully Alive in 2005!" I like that one, too. She wants a reminder to stay engaged in LIFE! Themes are a tool to help us FOCUS. It's a friendly nudge that keeps us on track of positive change. Whatever you choose, your theme is like a beacon when it comes to helping you achieve your ultimate objective(s). It summarizes that something you want to move toward in your life. Your theme can help get you out of your comfort zone and into territory you want to go. Having a theme can also help in decision making process because saying "no" to things that don't fit into your theme for year becomes easier. There are so many things that can derail us from things we want for ourselves, but having a theme can help keep us on course. When we figure out what our goal for year is, selecting an appropriate theme is just a step away. When we have our own purpose, we are less likely to get caught up in other people's chaos or engage in "rescuing" behavior. Rescuing others from what amounts to their lack of planning is a path that can lead to resentment. And don't you have better things to do?
