When I come out of store this guy has finally got there and is waiting for me and says, “but commercial says Mustangs will beat pants off Trans Am.” I very blithely replied, “Not this Trans Am!”

They don’t make them like this anymore. It’s sad when you think about it! Those of us who lived and grew up in era of muscle cars, street rods, Saturday night cruise nights were very,very lucky. I feel sorry for youth of today that they missed out on all of this.

So what happened to that great 455 Trans Am, unfortunately harsh upstate NY winters aren’tkind to cars and rust took Trans Am from us. However, we did replace it – with a customized 1973 Vette, which we drove cross country to California, but that’s a whole nother story!

4. Using steel-belted radial tires can increase number of miles you make per year by up to 10%, saving this way about $130 per year.

5. Most cars, don't work better on premium gas, so, unless your car is pinging or knocking you shouldn't use higher octane gas. If your car doesn't have a high performance engine, using gas that best suits your car's engine can save you $200 to $400 per year.

6. Having under inflated tires makes your engine burn about 6% more gas so make sure you check your tire pressure regularly.

7. If your tires are improperly balanced tread on them will be destroyed. In addition, your suspension and shock absorbers can be damaged leading to more expense on car parts and service. Balancing your tires once a year can add thousands of miles to their life.
