You write book or article and then are so very pleased with what you have created. You proudly send it in and wait for accolades. Instead rejections come and hope fades, but don't let it. Weather out your storms, relax in knowing that someone will appreciate your efforts, but perhaps you will have to take cover and wait. When you can throw open doors of bright world of being a writer, you will see rainbow and colors will embrace you. The pot at end of that beautiful rainbow will be your book or article in print and you will be more confident next time, and face that next storm, as surely as they will come, but never go down to demoralizing pits of self-pity and worse yet, total abandonment. The rainbows are out waiting in wings, and stronger gales that blow with each storm, more welcome is that expanse of wonder and delight that represents myriad of people you will touch through your writing and knowledge you share. So go in and have that cup of coffee, relax in front of fire, and wait out storm. Anticipation of that rainbow will make it all worth your while. You will also notice that with each passing turbulance, colors seem deeper and more penetrating. Wishing you strength to weather storm and welcome rainbows. ©Arleen M. Kaptur 2002 May

If we use words to create a better way of living, to embrace others, bring joy, hope, peace, and love, then they are doing their rightful work. Even in a reprimand, they can point out wrongdoing, but not destroy wrongdoer. Words are writers, painters, bus drivers, parents, children, and anyone else who uses them, or hears them. They are a very real part of our lives and can lead to new discoveries, enable us to reach stars, and to insure that not one person in world is without basic needs. They color our surroundings, and add laughter to our days. A thunderstorm could be turned into a rainbow with just right words. A child could grow into a successful, caring adult, capable of unlimited undertakings with right words. However, opposite side of coin will always be there. It takes each and every person to insure that coin is not turned over and that not even one misused word will cause pain or cause world to weep. We have that power, given to each one of us, totally free, to use or misuse. The result is up to every man, woman, and child. We can only hope that as marvelous as we are in being human, we can use all our gifts to best of our ability and that does include language. ©Arleen M. Kaptur 2002 May
