Dining atrepparttar Grand Lido Negril is an equally pleasurable experience. Beingrepparttar 133638 Houstonian foodie that I am, I was skeptical that 'resort food" could compete withrepparttar 133639 posh French cuisine I'd enjoyed in metropolitan cities. I couldn't have been more wrong. From fine wines to decadent chocolate pastries. In a word: Magnifique! I hear Ralph Lauren lives onrepparttar 133640 island over by Round Hill, so this is probably a great place forrepparttar 133641 fashion runway types. And no bothersome check atrepparttar 133642 end ofrepparttar 133643 meal! This SuperClub concept was winning me over. Inrepparttar 133644 evening I had to check outrepparttar 133645 Atlantis Disco.

For over 15 years SuperClubs has been winning Jamaican culinary awards fromrepparttar 133646 Professional Culinary Arts Competition that runs for a couple of days in July each year. Every thing seems to be island themed. The lunchtime jazz adds a special soothing flavor.

The smoked shrimp is superb and you haven't lived until you try to coconut mashed potatoes. You have to taste everything jerked, from sausage, to beef, to chicken and even fish! I especially enjoyedrepparttar 133647 pumpkin soup which can be served cold or hot, or that other island soup staple, callaloo, made fromrepparttar 133648 malanga plant, that looks like creamed spinach, but is more divine. The national dish is salt fish and ackee and often you find ackee withrepparttar 133649 free ranged scrambled eggs at breakfast. Another native dish is chocho or St. Christophene a type of superlative squash. Each morning saw me with Blue Mountain coffee with orange honey, served espresso style.

The most popular time of year to visit is from mid-July torepparttar 133639 end of October. The resort is closed for six weeks from mid-November to December 27th, andrepparttar 133640 month of April.

Now before I go on I need to express how awe-struck I was by whatrepparttar 133641 resort has to offer. You can only imagine my reaction when I was able to experience it first hand. Allow me to setrepparttar 133642 scene.

I arrived on a typical cool and sunny Ontario afternoon;repparttar 133643 air was crisp andrepparttar 133644 colored leaves were beginning to fall like clockwork, markingrepparttar 133645 turn of a new and wonderful season. Already impressed by my scenic drive on winding dirt roads boarding quiet lakes, I couldn't imagine my day becoming any more perfect. Approaching Whitney I spotted a beaver sitting on some barely frozen ice building himself a place to reside. I strategically pulled over and watched him hard at work—in a moment he noticed me and dove underrepparttar 133646 tissue paper thin ice. It was time for me to find my bed forrepparttar 133647 night as well, I thought, and continued on my journey.

The resort is tucked away down a hidden gravel road and hugs Galeairy Lake—seven miles of sparkling water and hidden coves disappearing well into Algonquin Park. If you sit quietly byrepparttar 133648 shoreline you will hearrepparttar 133649 haunting call ofrepparttar 133650 loons communicating to each other. Beaver, otter, deer, and moose are spotted inrepparttar 133651 area. Fish of all shapes, colors, and sizes can be caught either offrepparttar 133652 shore, or on canoe trips inrepparttar 133653 summer. The resort's Chef, Subie Cybulskie, is happy to cook your cleaned fish for dinner at no extra charge.

Pulling intorepparttar 133654 resort I instantly felt a sense of comfort. Log cabins were to my left and welcoming forested land to my right, and an inviting main house straight ahead. I understood whyrepparttar 133655 get-a-way was classified as "quaint and cozy". There is more of a feeling of being a guest in a friend's home, rather than a number in a big hotel. Couples of all ages were checking in, one afterrepparttar 133656 other, ready for their weekend of magic to begin. I watched one couple exchange a silent and knowing recognition with each other, while Tonya, repparttar 133657 pleasant young clerk atrepparttar 133658 front desk told them about what facilitiesrepparttar 133659 resort has to offer.

Inrepparttar 133660 fall and winter seasonrepparttar 133661 Bear Trail Couples Resort offers an abundance of activities, such as: hiking Algonquin Park (a spectacular walk is a 2.7 km trek on Lookout Trail, overlookingrepparttar 133662 park); mountain biking 35km of mysterious and beautiful terrain located alongrepparttar 133663 fabulous Madawaska River; badminton and tennis onrepparttar 133664 on-site courts whenrepparttar 133665 weather applies; all-terrain-vehicle tours (1.5 hour trip is $70CND, info can be gathered at
