Local delicacies arerepparttar focus ofrepparttar 133649 Terrace's menu, whose mantra is,"serve fresh, serve local". By marrying British and French cuisine with fresh resources, Executive Chef Mike Taylor and Sous Chef Simon Jenkins present a unique and sophisticated five-course menu that changes daily. With an expanded à la carte menu, a traditional table d'hote continues to be available along with a new "light bites" menu that is available all day. A most delicious and refreshing addition torepparttar 133650 menu is a variety of ice creams and sorbets made fresh daily with local ingredients.

The first paragraphs of this article is a description ofrepparttar 133651 evening I enjoyed at The Terrace Restaurant. My fellow travelers and I were greeted by General Manager, Hamish and Linda Watson, who lead us to a lovely outdoor garden patio where they insisted we all tryrepparttar 133652 legendary "Cobblers Cooler". This innocuous concoction looks innocent enough but try more than one and you might find yourself onrepparttar 133653 wrong end ofrepparttar 133654 conga line. The Cobblers Cooler is a delicious and dangerous combination of three ounces of local white and brown rum, fruit punch mix, peaches, pears, grapes, fruit cocktail fruit, a splash of Grenadine for colour, garnished with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

We enjoyed tasty canapés with our Cobblers Coolers before moving to The Terrace Restaurant onrepparttar 133655 edge ofrepparttar 133656 crescent beach, under a cozy thatched roof to savor a menu that was a delight torepparttar 133657 palate.

The palette of colors chosen forrepparttar suites is straight fromrepparttar 133648 beach itself. Nature isrepparttar 133649 director of this play of hues: tans, browns, whites, and gold, mimickingrepparttar 133650 sandy shore lying a few steps outsiderepparttar 133651 door. Granite counters and tabletops and reed and bamboo accents onrepparttar 133652 furniture continue to inviterepparttar 133653 great outdoors inside. Heavy stone lamps and framed seashell artwork continuerepparttar 133654 living space torepparttar 133655 coastal environment. Some suites boast balconies overlookingrepparttar 133656 deep powder blue Pacific Ocean. All is balanced with just a hint of contemporary elegance, providing a carefree beach feel without sacrificing luxury. It is more mature and sophisticated, yet comfortable and easy. The perfect balance.

Now how can you top all of this off? Withrepparttar 133657 dreamiest bed imaginable!, a bed repeatingrepparttar 133658 natural theme — andrepparttar 133659 bedding! Ohrepparttar 133660 bedding could have been a magazine feature in itself! Soft, plump pillows, and a generous comforter that is beyond words cradled me like a white cumulus cloud on a perfect San Diego day. (Wait, I've never seen a day in San Diego that isn't perfect!)

Diamond Head Inn's location can only be described as P-E-R-F-E-C-T!

One hundred feet outside your door isrepparttar 133661 beach, meaning an emphasis onrepparttar 133662 smell ofrepparttar 133663 ocean, yet not so close that you can hearrepparttar 133664 crowd.

Everything is accessible without renting a car or taxi. My daughter and I joinrepparttar 133665 famous 2-½ mile Boardwalk action, using every form of transportation other than motor vehicles: we hike, bike, skate, jog, and walk torepparttar 133666 nearby shops, restaurants, and Belmont Park, whererepparttar 133667 rollercoaster and other rides thrill vacationers. We even bike to Mission Bay fromrepparttar 133668 hotel. The end ofrepparttar 133669 Boardwalk rewards us with one ofrepparttar 133670 most incredible views: bright flowers framingrepparttar 133671 ocean blue.

The Boardwalk sandwiches betweenrepparttar 133672 Pacific Ocean's crashing waves forrepparttar 133673 more adventurous types and glistening Mission Bay for those dreaming their day away on a sailboat. A jetty connectsrepparttar 133674 two bodies of water and is breathtaking asrepparttar 133675 white canvas of sails contrast against an I-can't-even-begin-to-describe-blue sky.

Just a short walk from Diamond Head is Crystal Pier, repparttar 133676 scene for fishing or watching surfers below. You're so close torepparttar 133677 surfers that you hear them cheer when hanging ten or swearing when there's a wipe out!
