Stylize Your Wardrobe: 5 ways to make the most of what you already ownWritten by Kim Kristofferson-Magnusson

#4- MAKE A DETAILED LIST OF “REPLACEMENTS” You count four white t-shirts, and they all have stains? Pitch every single one (no, you are not allowed to keep them for pj’s) and spend $15 on a brand-new one. Make sure it fits you perfectly, and you will wear it under everything, dress or casual. Do you have twelve pairs of black pants, and still not “perfect”, 365 days a year style? Get rid of all of them (painful, I know…be brave). If you can’t bear to give away perfectly good (if only slightly “last year”) styles, sell them online and use proceeds to buy THE perfect pair, even if it sets you back a few hun’. Ditto for all your denims. These are basics that will make all your funky jackets and camis, which are so “NOW”, look so “RIGHT”. #5 – PUT THE “WINNERS” BACK INTO YOUR CLOSET AND EVALUATE! Now, what you have left, after reliving your glory days, intermittent crying jags and laughing fits, and some tough soul-searching, is ‘Best of Best’ – epitome of Fashion Called You! This will become basis for your “signature” style…pieces that make you feel great, pretty, sexy, smart…who knew fashion could be such a pick-me-up. If there’s not much left, it’s time to go shopping, girl! Each season, use your “pin money” (aka your secret stash) to pick up some inexpensive pieces in latest and greatest colors and styles to round out and extend life of your basics. Voila…you finally have SOMETHING to wear!

Prick a capsule of Vitamin A, E, or wheat germ oil and smooth directly onto your skin, add to coconut, almond or apricot oil, or to your toner. Vitamin A is a potent antioxidant and Vitamin E is said to slow down aging process. Almond oil soothes and lubricates skin. Apricot oil protects and softens skin. Wheat germ oil promotes skin elasticity. For a moisturizing and refreshing mask, mix avocado with shredded cucumber. Avocados are rich in protein and Vitamin A. Cucumbers are cooling and cleansing. Use a mashed banana for a skin firming mask. To lighten age spots, rub lemon directly onto your skin. For a body powder, mix cornstarch and baking soda with your favorite essential oil. For a foot powder, mix cornstarch, baking soda and tea tree or peppermint oil. Baking soda acts as a deodorizer and soothes skin. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial, and fungicide. Peppermint oil is soothing to feet and swollen ankles. Drinking plenty of water, eating raw fruits and vegetables, and getting plenty of rest are one of best ways to achieving healthy and radiant skin. What goes into your body is reflective on your skin.
