"Oh...wow. That's really deep. Excuse me while I go stick my head in a book of wise sayings or something."

"Stick your head wherever you like. Sand if you prefer. But when you re-enterrepparttar reality zone, truth will still be truth."

"Okay. I'm in an accommodating mood so let's say there is a difference between a goal and a purpose. I know about goals. How do I determine a purpose?"

"To begin with, it's not ‛A' purpose. It's ‛THE' purpose. And you begin by asking yourself what are your best talents and abilities? In other words, what do you do extremely well? What do you enjoy doing?"

"And what do I do with ‛THE' answer?"

"Deciderepparttar 123670 best way for you to serve God, others and yourself by using these talents."

"Ahhhh. I knew there was a catch to all this. You're suggesting sainthood."

"Not at all. I doubt if you'd even qualify for consideration. I'm merely pointing out that you were put here on earth for a purpose. Your talents and abilities will point you in that direction if you stop long enough to really look at them. Despite appearances, you are not a cosmic accident. You do have a mission. And until you discover and align yourself with that purpose you can set allrepparttar 123671 goals you want but you'll still be tap dancing inrepparttar 123672 wrong ballroom."

"Give me a for instance."

"You've got writing skills. You enjoy writing. So maybe your real purpose in life is to use your writing to help others walk taller. Someone else might be a gifted sales person. Their mission could be to help people live better or more successfully through valuable services or products. Getrepparttar 123673 idea?"

"Maybe. I will admitrepparttar 123674 idea is worth thinking about. But just out of curiosity, what is your dedicated purpose in life?"

"Saving you from your Dumb-Self. It's a full-time commitment."

3. Plan forrepparttar unexpected. Prior to leaving for my trip I made sure my road side assistance program was paid up and I had their card in my purse. I also took my cell phone with me and made sure I hadrepparttar 123669 car charger for it. You can't possibly anticipate everything that could happen to you on your journey. But you can put safe guards in place that will allow you to respond quickly torepparttar 123670 unexpected.

4. Check in with your friends. On my way to Youngstown, I stopped in Columbus to have lunch with a friend. This was a nice way to breakrepparttar 123671 monotony ofrepparttar 123672 ride. Your friends are there to support you. Take advantage ofrepparttar 123673 comfort and reassurance they can provide.

5. Allow your friends to check in on you. While I was driving I turned on my cell phone. Both my mother and my husband called me to see how my ride was going. Creating repparttar 123674 space for others to check in on you is a great reminder that you aren't alone on your scary journey. Don't let pride fool you into thinking you don't need support.

6. Enjoyrepparttar 123675 journey. During my ride I saw beautiful parts of my home state that I'd never seen. I received a little geography lesson learning howrepparttar 123676 different highways connect. I sang atrepparttar 123677 top of my lungs to my favorite tunes fromrepparttar 123678 80's. I actually had fun. While there were a couple of times when I wasn't sure what highway I was on or repparttar 123679 street I needed wasn't onrepparttar 123680 map, that didn't negate repparttar 123681 joy ofrepparttar 123682 journey.

On my way back, I drove straight home with no stopping. It wasn't easy but making it to Youngstown a week earlier gave me allrepparttar 123683 confidence I needed. I'm not sure if I would now consider myself a road warrior, but I now have one less thing to fear.
