Anger, irritability and depression.

These are all stress related and they can cause relationship and social problems. The National Sleep Foundation has said that anger due to sleep deprivation may be one ofrepparttar contributing factors to road rage. Depression, while remaining a complex condition may be described as anger turned inwards. One answer to these problems may simply be more or better sleep.

Lack of focus and difficulty in concentrating.

The brain looses function as a result of sleep deprivation. Students in particular fit into this category as learning requires intense concentration. A study has found that fromrepparttar 114546 age of puberty, repparttar 114547 need for sleep increases until adulthood. Short term memory loss Memory is affected by lack of sleep, this is also a problem for those trying to study and for those learning new job skills.

Impaired ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Two reasons for this - one is because concentration is affected, repparttar 114548 second becauserepparttar 114549 danger of falling asleep atrepparttar 114550 wheel is high. The same goes for anyone who is in charge of machinery inrepparttar 114551 workplace. Sleep deprivation can also cause blurring of peripheral vision. Altogether quite a deadly cocktail. The danger has been assessed as being close to that of someone who is affected by alcohol!

Suppression ofrepparttar 114552 immune system.

This one is a worry as it leaves us vulnerable to every infection that happens to be around atrepparttar 114553 time. People who are sleep deprived get more colds and flu than those that are not. Lack of sleep can make you sick!

Probably enough reasons there to convince us to take action to change our sleeping habits! If lack of time is keeping us up late, something else may have to be sacrificed to make sure we getrepparttar 114554 rest we need. If a sleep disorder is making your life a misery, don't despair! There is always something we can do and knowledge onrepparttar 114555 subject is improving allrepparttar 114556 time.

Proper treatment in TCM is more thanrepparttar elimination of pathological processes. In addition to attacking a pathological factor(s), it isrepparttar 114545 responsibility ofrepparttar 114546 TCM doctor to supportrepparttar 114547 individual in his or her goal of achieving overall health which includes aspects of physical-psycho-emotional and spiritual health. This paradigmatic approach is an inexorable part ofrepparttar 114548 process of healing. Without it, we are merely chasingrepparttar 114549 sickness and forgetting aboutrepparttar 114550 patient. With this approach, repparttar 114551 patient is seen as a whole person, representingrepparttar 114552 sum of a lifetime of experiences if you will, not just an embodiment of pathology.

Pathologies are guests (and we hope temporary ones!) in a home which serves as a gracious host - our physical, emotional and spiritual selves. TCM first is concerned with strengtheningrepparttar 114553 immune function which includes homeostasis ofrepparttar 114554 physical, emotional and spiritual attributes ofrepparttar 114555 patient, so as to be able to assistrepparttar 114556 patient in his or her endeavor to do battle and destroyrepparttar 114557 enemy atrepparttar 114558 gates (or inside them). When people are chronically exhausted from lack of sleep resulting from anxiety or depression, they can become chronically sick as a result of a lowered immune system.

In TCMrepparttar 114559 point of departure from Western medicine is not to viewrepparttar 114560 acute presentation (called "the branch" in TCM) as primary, but to treatrepparttar 114561 etiology (called "the root" in TCM) which isrepparttar 114562 anxiety and depression which causesrepparttar 114563 insomnia then facilitating exhaustion and loweringrepparttar 114564 immune function which can lead to chronic illness.

So, rather than prescribing antibiotics repeatedly, we might addressrepparttar 114565 patient's anxiety/depression syndrome or refer them out to a psychotherapist for appropriate intervention while simultaneously providing treatment.

In Part II we'll look atrepparttar 114566 mechanisms of action in infertility.
