Sure, you can advertise online for free, but except for isolated instances, there is a catch. Forget FFA (Free For All) sites where you can post a free ad for your business. They get thousands of submissions hourly, and most only keep latest hundred or so current, so your ad has a life measured in seconds.

How about free ads you find in newsletters? If newsletter has content and a decent subscriber base, they are a great deal. However, many times only subscribers who receive it are those placing free ads. Once they check to see if their ad is there, they "click away" and don't even see anything else.

While you might not immediately learn how to advertise your business, you quickly learn how not to. E-mail spamvertising is simply a waste of time and money. If it is annoying to you, and ads are summarily deleted without being read, why waste your money on a similar campaign.

Those who want to do business on web, and are succeeding, are evolving into a whole new breed of entrepreneurs. They learned from mistakes that are being made, and have developed a business plan that is working.

So, what is secret. It really isn't a secret, and it is as obvious as nose on your face. People are not stupid, inexperienced maybe.- but not stupid. Treat them with same courtesy and respect you would like to receive, and you will be amazed at results.

Unfortunately, many would be entrepreneurs don't take their business seriously, and will fail. This is not something you can

do when bored, and there is nothing good on TV that night. If your bottom line is to succeed, you must take your online business seriously, and returns you receive will be in proportion to effort you exert.

If you are not tied to a telephone, it is still important to maintain regular hours. More importantly, you should have daily goals. If you meet those goals, rest of day is yours. But many people always think there is tomorrow.

For far too many, tomorrow never comes, and things that should have been done aren't. Maybe when kids are at school will work for you, or possibly late at night. You might even have to pass up on your favorite "soap opera". Don't deal with hours, you're not being paid by hour - deal with goal oriented results.

Working in your pajamas sounds great, and many of offers you may hear state that you can. If I get an idea in wee hours, I may hop on computer dressed like that, but for normal business hours that is simply a myth. Who wants to spend their life like that?

You must have an effective work space, which is free of distractions. You should have quiet office space in your house, which is out-of-the-way, and off limits during your work hours. Treat this like an office. Keep it neat. While I am not neatest person in world, I do know where everything is. If I get a call from a client, I'm not fumbling about looking for information I need. A filing cabinet next to your desk goes a long way.

When you get an e-mail, take appropriate action same day, Then file it in a place where you can find it. Delete all e-mails in you "in-basket" older than 30 days. If they're older than 30 days, they're not worth anything anyway.

If you don't fall into "trap", which many folks do, those “visions of sugarplums” just might come true.
