Saddham Hussein: Not Yet Uhuru

Take another example. World War I has variously been described as "the total war," "a turning point in history," "the dayrepparttar world went mad," "the end ofrepparttar 126007 world." Writer Ernest Hemingway called it "the most colossal, murderous, mismanaged butchery that has ever taken place on earth."

Yet, that did not prevent World War II andrepparttar 126008 55 million souls that went with it. Nor has it preventedrepparttar 126009 more than 100 million lives that have died in over 150 wars since 1914. Nor did it preventrepparttar 126010 "madness" of Sarajevo in Bosnia, orrepparttar 126011 "ethnic cleansing" in Burundi and Rwanda, orrepparttar 126012 "new war" on terror. Nor has it preventedrepparttar 126013 12 wars that are going on aroundrepparttar 126014 world this very day!

Sorepparttar 126015 bottomline is thatrepparttar 126016 hanging of Saddham or Osama will never stop terrorism, nor will it makerepparttar 126017 world a safer place. Another Saddham, another Osama, will rise tomorrow. The quest for "uhuru" or "kwacha,"repparttar 126018 dawn, would turn out a dream, unless we addressrepparttar 126019 imbalances that precipitate terrorism, now. Otherwise we would wake up tomorrow and seerepparttar 126020 UN building on fire. Or beholdrepparttar 126021 world in total darkness. Or begin to drop dead because of a mysterious plague, or worse, a nuclear bomb. (No thanks torepparttar 126022 terrorists.)

"Where were you whenrepparttar 126023 world stopped turning?" isrepparttar 126024 lyric of a song by a musician in remembrance ofrepparttar 126025 collapsed Twin Towers. Dancers took torepparttar 126026 dance floors, andrepparttar 126027 song went to toprepparttar 126028 music chart show. That was good.

But byrepparttar 126029 timerepparttar 126030 terrorists actually prepare forrepparttar 126031 show - down, there will be no musicians and dancers to celebraterepparttar 126032 world’s end. That would really berepparttar 126033 time whenrepparttar 126034 world would stop turning!

The Chinese Bin Laden: The terrorist leader China forgot

Written by Stephen Sullivan

Continued from page 1

The press releases claimedrepparttar leader of this so called terrorist group was one Hassan Mahsun an Uygur living in exile who, it was further claimed, had strong ties to Al Qaida and had masterminded, among other things, several bomb attacks within China. These claims had been refuted by Mahsun in several prior interviews.

These wererepparttar 126006 events of December 15 2003.

On December 23 2003 it was reported byrepparttar 126007 BBC that Mahsun was killed in October 2003 by Pakistani soldiers in a raid on a suspected Al Qaida hideout in South Waziristan, Pakistan. It was further reported thatrepparttar 126008 Chinese Government were involved in making positive identification ofrepparttar 126009 body through DNA testing.

Onrepparttar 126010 same dayrepparttar 126011 Chinese newspaper Xinhua ran a similar story. Later that day Xinhua edited out all links torepparttar 126012 story claiming it had been withdrawn because of it's "sensitive nature". (Yahoo News) How then doesrepparttar 126013 PRC release fairly significant press statements identifyingrepparttar 126014 virtual "Bin Laden" of Uygur terrorists groups when they supposedly actively participated in his bodies identification in October? Why wasrepparttar 126015 Xinhua article cut?

It would seem that these events give strong credence torepparttar 126016 arguments thatrepparttar 126017 PRC is waging a calculated and pre-meditated campaign againstrepparttar 126018 Uygur. Atrepparttar 126019 very least it raises some very serious questions.

How could this happen? Perhaps becauserepparttar 126020 press release was written well in advance and set for release at a particular opportune time?

Doesrepparttar 126021 cutting ofrepparttar 126022 Xinhua article prove thatrepparttar 126023 PRC recognises it's fairly significant mistake?

Doesrepparttar 126024 fact that this mistake was allowed to occur prove thatrepparttar 126025 case forrepparttar 126026 existence of Uygur terrorism argued byrepparttar 126027 PRC is not taken seriously enough, even by them, torepparttar 126028 point thatrepparttar 126029 death of China's "Bin Laden" is of so little consequence?

These questions raise very serious doubts aboutrepparttar 126030 Chinese claims as torepparttar 126031 existence of Uygur terrorist groups and in doing so suggests thatrepparttar 126032 Chinese "War on Terorism" is in fact a war onrepparttar 126033 Uygur and their human rights.

It also casts serious doubts onrepparttar 126034 US's and other countries' foreign policy towards China ( and other countries for that matter) in respect of human rights violations inrepparttar 126035 name ofrepparttar 126036 "War on Terrorism".

In pursuit ofrepparttar 126037 objectives embodied inrepparttar 126038 "War on Terrorism" are we "throwingrepparttar 126039 baby out withrepparttar 126040 bath water"?
