Personally speaking, however, this book is not as effective as I’ve expected. Based on descriptions in publisher's website, it appeared that book’s author would not spend time doing its precious pages on bad remarks and instead, focused on using PSP to do real world applications. There are also precious few photo solutions in it with much of book devoted to drawing vector objects or revising basic material but all these things were already well covered in user's manual. I was wrong and was totally disappointed. However, if you want to learn how to draw shapes and such using vector tools, then this book just might be perfect fit for you.

I did not learn anything from this book. The book covers almost everything, but it is too brief and shallow. I feel like I wasted my money buying this book. If you’re looking for a book that describes each and every tool and panel in great detail, don’t think twice to buy this book. But, if you’re looking for 'how to' do things – forget about it!

How to remove red-eye in pictures

Somewhere somehow, red eyes seem to attach itself to our photographs. This makes our friends and loved ones look like version of Exorcist. To avoid red eye from haunting us, Fireworks MX 2004 has a tool for removing this effect on photos.

The Red-eye Removal tool works by removing all shades of red within a certain range that are within selected area. These, in turn, will be replaced by a neutral color range of gray and black.

To remove red-eye effect, Macromedia has provided following steps for Red-eye Removal tool:

1.Select bitmap that exhibits red eye effect. You can only use Red-eye Removal tool on a bitmap, and not on a vector image.

2. Choose Red-eye Removal tool from Tools panel. This tool can be found in Replace Color tool pop-up menu.

3. Click with tool in section that exhibits red eye effect. The tool instantly transforms red shades, to tolerances set in Property inspector for tool.

4. Since tool only looks for red pixels, it should cleanly remove red eye. Adjust tolerance settings to fine tune Red-eye Removal tool for your image.
